The Psy-Trance Thread

swim thought it would be a good idea to share artists/particular songs in the genre of psy-trance, as it seems psy-trance is pretty popular round here.

personal favorites include:

Astrix
Infected Mushroom
Skazi

Re: The Psy-Trance Thread

Man with no name is a pretty amazing DJ, Budgie always listens to him when he's tirpping as his mixing always sends him into orbit. If swiy can find it get Paul Oakenfold's Goa special which was an essential mix from 94. Bloody amazing and totally different to most psy-trance swiyou'll hear.

Re: The Psy-Trance Thread

Ahhhh.....this is a very difficult one as there are so many out there:

Hallucinogen has to be a firm favourite (in fact check out anything by Simon Posford for psy-ambient and psy-dub variations).
Green Nuns of the Revolution
Astral Projection
Cosmosis
Space Tribe
Juno Reactor
Doof
Medicine Drum
Lunar Asylum
Deedrah
Eyal Barkan

The list goes on and on and on, Infected Mushroom and Man With No Name have already been mentioned by others...how about checking out some early stuff from many moons ago that was really the forerunner of the psytrance movement? Early Eat Static (1st 2 albums), early Banco de Gaia, Astral Projection, Optik Eye, Children of the Bong, etc, etc

Re: The Psy-Trance Thread

i most like kindzadza, shanti, polaris, higko, dark nebula, fungus funk, hallucinogen, shpongle, goa gil, ace ventura, shane gobi and bamboo forest (and probabily someone i've forget)

the past august i went for the first time to psytrance festivals (what an amaziang experience!)
(sonica [http://www.sonica25.com/ http://www.goatrance.de/goabase/party/details/past/29795] in italy and
ozora [http://ozorafest.hu/ http://www.goatrance.de/goabase/party/details/past/28280] in hungary) and i really expanded my psy-trance horizons (and of course, live sets are better than albums )

any advice for full-on artists like shanti or polaris?

Re: The Psy-Trance Thread

I find I like the psytrance from the early to mid 90s more than a lot of the stuff that is coming out now. Infinity Project, Hallucinogen, Black Sun earlier Man With No Name ect were all amazing; however, stuff that has been coming out lately is nice to dance to but it doesn't blow my mind like it used to. Some exceptions though, i quite like Vibrasphere's Archipelago. Tumult by Derango is some intensely messed up music, nice you don't mind repetitive beats.

Re: The Psy-Trance Thread

Thought it might be good to add into this already fantastic list of artists the likes of Rinkadink and Eskimo as well as The Commercial Hippies that hail from the fantastic Nano records label (the folks behind the origin stage that has kept my outdoor psytrance needs well fulfiled at the Glade festival in the Uk ). All worth checking out in my humble opinion along with the others mentioned allready.
