Methadone

SWIM hasn't been able to score any Lortabs lately, so SWIM got her hands on some Methadone. SWIM got 3 'wafers,' (40 mg tabs) of the stuff.
SWIM has played around with methadone in the past. She usually would split the wafer in fourths and eat 10 mgs. This time SWIM decided to get a little crazy. SWIM ate 20 mgs. at once, and than an hour later at another quarter. SO essentially SWIM ate 30 mgs of methadone.
Things were alright for about an hour, than SWIM started feeling REALLY REALLY awesome. SWIM was in a world all of her own. It was hard for SWIM to explain her experience, but she basically felt AWESOME. She felt like she was melting into her seat. Apparently it was an awesome feeling, according to SWIM.
But then SWIM got stupid and decided that it would be a good idea to get in her car, just her and her music, and drive up the beach; feeling awesome all the way.
That's when it hit SWIM that she was really FUCKED up. SWIM couldn't see straight, SWIM had double vision, and couldn't focus on the road. Luckily SWIM had the presence of mind to turn around and go home.
SWIM had trouble walking in a straight line, but made it to her apartment. SWIM then sat on her balcony, listened to some techno, and melted into seat on the balcony. The breeze blowing in SWIM's face made it perfect.
All in all, SWIM loves methadone; BUT, SWIM has one very important question for all of you professionals out there. Here goes...
At work I get randomly drug tested. They test for opiates. Since methadone is a synthetic opiate, does it show up on a standard opiate test? From what I have gathered, the opiates that my job tests for are hydro and oxy codone, morphine and codeine.
Does anybody know if methadone can be detected in a standard drug test??
Also, I know that methadone is primarily prescribed
to help people to get off of drugs.. Am I the only one who had a blast on methadone?
I would love some feedback, and especially some answers to my drug test questions....

Not really sure what constitutes a standard drugs test in your country I'm afraid. People that get prescribed methadone over here get regularly tested for other opiates to make sure they're not taking the piss.

Can definitely get a recreational effect from methadone though, but only if I take way over my maintenance dose - which means I don't have my maintenance dose later when I need it!

swim recently passed a drug test that tested for opiates and opiods..or synthetics...such as methadone...and swim passed it 4 or 5 days after having taken 20 mg. of methadone...amongst other things

well it really depends on what kind of drug test your company doing. the basic drug test that is used genarally wont test for methadone, but that doesnt mean the test swiy takes will or wont

SWIM got hooked on Methadone basically for the same reasons described in SWIY post above. But now after almost 2 years, SWIM very rarely feels the same euphoria and awesomeness SWIM fell in love with all that long ago. Now, SWIM just takes Methadone to feel "normal" and to avoid withdrawals. Some day, maybe SWIM will kick, but it's going to suck donkey dick.

Moral: Don't fall in love with the devil.

Thanks for the responses! I don't think that the drug test used at SWIM's company tests for methadone, but I'm terrified of failing a drug test. I do know that our company uses the oral swab test - it's a saliva test. They test for CO (cocaine), THC (marijuana), ME (meth-amphetamines/MDMA); AMP (amphetamines); OP (morphine) and PCP.. or some other strange drug that SWIM doesn't even thinks exists anymore. SWIM knows this because she looked up the 'employee drug testing manual' that is available on our company's website. What confuses SWIM is the differentiation between amphetamine and methamphetamine. I thought that meth was the same as amphetamines but who knows. SWIM will have to research that.

For MELSUE420, what kind of drug test did SWIY take, was it urine or saliva?

Depends on how much they want to break down an opiate positive test, if testing for metabolites it will highlight all opiates in the sample including methadone. Methadone can however take about 5 days or so to clear out of your system

that looks like the basic NIDA 5 drug test, methadone shouldnt show up on it.

What confuses SWIM is the differentiation between amphetamine and methamphetamine

yeh, the list is a bit strange, like having a group with meth and mdma, but then seperating amphetamine... anyway nvm, swiy should be ok.


oh and meth and amphetamine are different! meth has an extra methyl group potentiating the effects by comparison with amphetamine, making it more fat soluble, easier to cross blood/brain barrier ect..

So meth and amphetamines are different in that in order to determine which one was used you would need two different tests? Wow, learn something new everyday!

SWIM really hopes that the ME abbreviation on the test strip does in fact stand for meth amphetamine and not methadone... But, if SWIM's thought process is right, than on a test strip the abbreviation for methadone would be MD or MTD? ..... Swim is beginning to wonder whether or not this paranoia even worth it

Trash the methadone. It's more addictive, and harder to quit, than heroin. You don't talk about the amount of lortabs involved, but whatever it is - it's easier to quit than methadone. I could tell you a story, but she's still sort of alive and might hear it. So I won't.

Please find a new hobby. I know it's easier said than done.

re saliva testing, swim thinks methadone is detectable for up to a week in some cases.
but this is just a guideline as always, cos it depends on body mass and rate of metabolism

Hey there Nagognog2.. You seem like a really nice person., You have responded to a couple of my posts and you seem nothing but genuine. I really appreciate your concern and your honesty, it may be just the thing I need right now..

It isn't just lortabs for SWIM, SWIM started on X when Swim was about 18. Funny thing is that SWIM had never even smoked weed.. SWIM started out on X. Before then, SWIM was clean as a hospital room.. SWIM's mom died, and after that, SWIM didn't give a F*c*.. Swim's big problem was coke. SWIM spent 2 years and thousands of dollars on cocaine when she realized that she was about to lose EVERYTHING - the promise of graduating college, the respect of her friends and her sister (the only family that swim has left..), and her dignity and self respect. SWIM got off of the coke with the help of some friends, but drank like a fish. Eventually, and by some miracle, SWIM graduated from college, and landed a great career. SWIM thought that this career would save her, she thought that this career was the ONE thing that was going to make her happy.. SWIM was wrong, swim realized that swim was/is still an addict.
But SWIM is a smart addict. Swim knows what drugs she can take that won't cost the career of her dreams
But Nagognog, I think that you are right. Stepping away and looking at SWIM from the 3rd person, SWIM can see that methadone is doing the same thing that coke did.

So I guess I wonder, for SWIM's sake of course, what do you do when all you want to do is escape and live life vicariously through chemistry even though you know that it will ruin you eventually???

Sorry if SWIM broke any rules posting this, but SWIM has had plenty of alcohol, xanax and methadone tonight.. My mind is fuzzy but my words are sincere.

Methadone is great, SWIM took 30 mg and 3/4 of a Xanax Bar. Great feeling, but dangerous, SWIM didn't realize it at the time. Congrats to your friend on finding methadone although it can make you sick if you're not used to the drug. Have fun

depends on the test. SWIM has passed multiple job interview drug tests panel 4 and panel 5 and SWIM has been doing methadone for 10 years...is it a synthetic and must be tested for seperatly. Even low doses of oxycodone will not show up on an opiod test, it usually takes high doses of OXY over a long period of time to show up on a 4 or 5 panel test. All opiods must break down to morphine first to show up on a test and with low levels of oxycodone there is not enough to show up, from what I heard.....Also SWIM being on methadone for over 1o years was given a drug screen by my pain managment Dr. who percribed 5 mg oxycodone knowing that it would not show up, He was pissed when SWIM used a cough syrup given to SWIM by a previouse PCP, I was berated since my new PCP said I can not tell the difference SWIM used Heroin or codiene in the syrup, since they both metabolize to morphine. So I would not worry about the methadone test. Some companies will test for it but it is an added expense (I think expensive) that most companies will not pay for......

That is my take on this subject. From SWIM's experience..
