Netherlands - New cannabis law in the Netherlands?

When swim went into town yesterday with a friend to pick up certain "essentials" he stopped in a odinary cafe and met with some friends of his friend anyway they were talking about going in october together when the subject arose that the dutch were supposedly bringing in a law to stop tourist buying and possesing cannabis. Anyway this worried swim and he asked me to ask you guys if theres any truth to this rumour?

This is an old rumour. Once the gov wanted to do this, but since it is discrimination, they can't. Especially in the light of the EU.

it wasn't even the government who wanted it, it was just one single politician dude who wanted his face on the telly...

Alot of people in the Netherlands are against pot, but I dont think it will be enforced anytime soon. They cant discriminate against tourists, selling to dutch and not foreigners. No coffeeshop would enforce it even if the government would like to. The liberal policy of the dutch is one of their many attractions to tourists.
