Oral use - Hydroxyzine

So SWIM has been prescribed many benzos for his anxiety.
Today he went to a new doctor and was given Depakote (for his bipolar disorder) and Hydroxyzine.

SWIM took 100mg earlier, of the hydroxyzine, and noticed some anxiety relief, but is unsure of it being a placebo effect, and/or the fact that he took klonopin last night, which lasted into today.

Anyway, SWIM was just wondering your thoughts about Hydroxyzine (or depakote for that matter). How well did it work for anxiety? Is it comparable to benzos at all? Is it a good drug for stimulant comedowns/anxiety, or maybe in conjunction with psychedelics?

Please let SWIM know, and he will keep taking the Hydroxyzine to get more experience with it, and will let you all know how it goes
(he took another 100mg just now - he is prescribed 200mg a day (4x50mg).

the only thing i know really about Hydroxyzine is its an antihistamine and is used for some severe and no severe medical connditions as well as anxiety. its supposed to help people function more normally but i dont think it would be as helpful as benzos.

I was prescribed Hydroxine for my anxiety disorder and I can say for sure that the only thing it is good for is allergies. For anxiety I would have been better off drinking a glass of water, it didnt help at all. I think its even weaker than Benadryl.

IMO, antihistamines are poor for anxiety. At first they might make you a little tired which might help small amount but possibly won't help and that's about it. Good luck though.

Hydroxyzine seems to be a good potentiator of opiates. Not sure about its efficacy in treating anxiety. Hopefully it works well for swiy.
