Re: Urologist appointment, reason for concern?
Well I have good news and bad news for SWIY. I figure he's already had his appointment so I'm just speculating at this point, so please let us know how it turned out. Anyways, the bad news is that amphetamine has a half life of 10-13 hours. Adderall is a combination of amphetamine and d-amphetamine, but their half lives are roughly the same, differing only by a few hours. The reason the half lives are different is the reason they mix the two together in the first place; to ease the peak and keep the effectiveness more consistent. That being said, I wouldn't count on a detectable level of amphetamines being out of SWIY's system in less than 3 days.
But as I said, there is good news. Since the urinary problem is completley unrelated, chances are unless amphetamines are some kind of catalyst to making the condition worse, they have no reason to check for it. Furthermore, from what I understand, is that you have the right to know if you're being drug-tested if you're going to visit a doctor on your own terms (aka not forced by the government). In addition, I believe it is your right to refuse a drug test. Although that might seem shady, its better than being caught if it would cause problems. As I said though chances are what they're testing for is nothing even close to an amphetamine, and they don't just drug test urine because they have it.
