Drug info - thc in ash?

SWIM was just watchin C.O.P.S. on t.v., they had pulled some people over and claimed there car smelled of bud. They looked in the ashtray, scooped up some ashes and put this in a test kit, and it showed posative for thc.
SWIM is a concervative smoker, he saves every seed and stem and roach paper. At the end of the week, he puts all this in a coffee grinder and does a alcohol extraction to get that last high before the pay check comes in. well what if you did this with ash? would it work. if not, is there another way to pull the thc out the ash? And what about resin. could you pull out the good, but leave the bad?
