Can I use meth recreationally.

Ok swim used to tweak it up a lilttle bit back in the day (over a year and a half ago)

He would smoke 2 times per week and did that for about 4 months.

Now most people in the rehab told swim he was incredibly lucky to use for 4 months w/o becomming majorly addicted (they tried to convinse swim that he was an addict to meth doing 2/week....)

Now I want to know.

Can swim use it recreationally?

I have heard only that meth is EVIL and that almost no one can use it recreationaly.

swim not intending on sleepless nights, just smoking speed before the day goes and smoking bud to pass out at night.

Es posible?

I'm just wondering what others have to say about meth rec.

Swim forgot to mention that he did go through about 6months of heavy meth addiction that he never mentioned to the rehabs for shame reasons.

Can swim guarantee himself just to do a little bit and walk away. That where addiction kicks in, a little bit more turns into a lot.
Just buy enough to last one day, and stay away from your tweaking buddies.

Old hippie gives you good advice...how much do you trust yourself? How's that will power of yours? If you're strong and sensible, you could of course manage to use it recreationally. A friend of mine used to have problems with meth, and got clean, and now she will only buy it when all bills are paid, all obligations are fulfilled, etc etc..and if she has money for it after that, she will treat herself (enough for night or two). Maybe that approach could work for swiy

swim tried meth twice in the past 2 month
usually swim and his friend split 1 point between them selves for the enitre night.
they spent smoking it for a few hours untill all was finished.

never once swim felt the slightest bit of craving for meth, tho he had one of the worst comedown imaginable
swim actually thinks he has cravings of less that nothing for it (if thats possible)

what does this all mean??

SWIM belives that any drug can be used safely in moderation... Meth is no exception. SWIM really hates the drug, but SWIM also has friends whom use occasionally and are very functional and not addicted.

Amphetamine is highly addictive and a very serious drug, not to be confused with something that can be abused, Liked by the user and easily put down. it is very close to METHamphetamine, too close to be recommended as a say a schedule IV drug. It is schedule II because of its high abuse and addiction potential. looking for somthing that will wake ya up drink coffee, wanna tweekballs do meth or amp.

Functional does not necissarily mean not addicted. There is a such thing as a functional addict....Swim never lost his job, even though swim's job was 365 days a year 7 days a week with no day off....Swim held that job til after swim quit meth. Swim ws shooting masses of that shit too.

hey man i posted in that heroin no more bs thread again with some more sources about the effects of opiates. i mentioned meth too and how it increases branching from the nucleus accumbus while opiates destroy it. with that said. meth just doesnt seem like a social drug. i dont know. swim tried one. it seems like a thing that one uses to experience pleasure and wanna have sex....from what i hear. i can get you some sources later after work but the neuroscience being said something that builds branching in that brain area seems very..... not recreational. you know? my opinion though i wouldnt mind sources refuting me i like new knowledge.

Drug use is not necessarily drug abuse. I'm very close to a guy who has used it off and on (more on than off) since 1974 and has always had a job. For the last three years he has owned his own computer repair business and is doing well. He has done it daily for the last three or four years and looks as normal as anybody. Moderation is the key. Force yourself to eat, take vitamins or drink those nutrition smoothies or shakes and SLEEP every night. The DEA is using the same scare tactics they used in "Reefer Madness" to justify the stupid war on drugs. I guess they never heard of the "Bill of Rights" or the Constitution.

Hell yes. Some people just don't have the self disipline to limit thier use to once a week or fortnight.

Swim has been taking amphetamines for years and while he did have a problem with it at one point he now does it once every fortnight, goes out dancing and has a ball with no major ill effects (sure SWIM comes down but thats all part of the ride + my teeth arnt in particulry good shape).

SWIM also does heroin once every 2 weeks but is not a junkie. SWIM has never turned to crime. When he runs out of money he stops, waits 2weeks for payday and does it again.

Drugs can control you but SWIM likes them far too much to let that happen to him.

It's all about self control, self dicipline and knowing when to end the party... don't get me wrong SWIM loves to stay awake for 3 - 4 days every so often he just knows when to stop.

Of course if you do meth or other amphetamines everyday you'll be a complete mess. It's like thoses "faces of meth" ppl... No self control in my opinion. Also when ppl say "I'm an addict I have no control over my addiction" it really shits me up the wall because they're taking the responsibilty away from themselves.

I believe SWIM has a right to say these things as he used to be an addict but he pulled himself out of the shitheap and got his shit in order.

So my answer is yes. It's just quite difficult thats all.

He used for months-years mabye a max of 4 times a week for a while... now has compleatly stoped, dont regret it at all... ofcorse it has its ups and downs but the onlything that matters is he doesnt regrett it.

Does the fact that wim was addicted to it before have any effects on whether or not swim gets back into the game?

Like..in AA and the addiction model or w/e when u become an addict u remain an addict for the rest of your life... like you can never go back to using your drug of choice again, period.

Swim has tested it all swim's life, and sadly, it is correct, once an addict always an addict. Sure swiy can get control of it for a while, ususally just about long enough to fool swiyself, then POW, it slams swiy back to the ground again. I know this from LONG, HARD, PAINFUL experience. And addiction picks up as if you had never stopped. It alwys gets worse never better. Sorry to tell swiy so, but if swiy likes go try it some more, but don't be surprised when it goes badly.

I have to disagree with you there only because you used the word ALWAYS. I'm sure there's at least one person out there that was addicted to something, and now manages to use it without becoming addicted to it again.

I disagree with the comment about being and addict and staying an addict. 12 step programs have there use but in telling you that you can not be cured and putting your faith in 'god' (what or who ever that may be to the individual) is the only way to solve a problem is not evidence or sience based.

Swim used E, coke, lsd and raved for several years certainly paid a high price and swim would concider the usage to be problematic requiring abstinance from all substances.

However once swim got to a certain point swim found it possible to dip in and have a mad one and have some recreational fun.

Everyone's experience is unique and some people will need to keep away as they cannot do the recreational thing where as some can.

Meth is going to have addictive qualities the same as all the othe stuff swiy enjoys - its not the drug but the person that defines addiction.

i dont think they are trying to be dicks or anything. that mentality just works for alot of people. if you avoid the substance you avoid risk of trouble with the law. and also if you have that mentality you , in theory, should never have the substance even once again. i think thats beneficial because there will always be "one more time" whether its a week or a month or even years. if you hold that mentality and take it "day by day" i think they have a very beneficial system for those seeking help. however i do not like their stance on methadone treatment. alot of narcotics anonymous are against that at least in my area. can anyone else colloberate?
