Advice needed - MDMA Abuse

Basically two weeks ago SWIM went to a festival. On the Thursday night SWIM dropped two head candy herbal pills - SWIM had a pretty nasty time on these: they made SWIM feel disconnected and dazed and SWIM couldnt sleep on them at all. The day after SWIM felt awful, and having not slept, went to the festival. The after effects of the herbals were so bad that SWIM wanted escape from them as soon as possible. So after arriving at the festival SWIM self medicated with MDMA. He did about 3/4 of a gram and three pills in one night and then did around 1/2 a gram the next day/night plus around four pills. A STUPID AMOUNT HE KNOWS. But he felt unable to get away from the downer of the herbals so felt inclined to do more and more just to reach a happy buzz (which he never gained).

Ever since nothing has been the same. Beforehand SWIM was a straight A, very intelligent student with an eloquant writing style (he just graduated from a really competitive University in a very competitive course - the English equivilant of a Harvard Business degree). However, now, he find it really difficult to focus and seem to have lost my ability to write well. It sometimes feels like he is using around 1% of his brain power and everything is confusing. He doesn't feel as "with it" as he used to and feels that his intelligence has wained.

This has effected SWIM really badly. His intelligence is really important to him and if it has been damamged he really cant see a bright future for himself. It has now been 2 1/2 weeks since that fatefull weekend and things are not improving. He started his first job this week and has trouble remembering anything - he forgets what he is doing all the time and finds it hard to relate between different things.

Will he ever get back to normal and regain his brain power fully? He has started exercising/eating well but is worried that in reality he is just kidding himself and it wont get him that far at all.

Any help appreicated,

Richard

Re: Advice needed - MDMA Abuse

SWIM isnt sure on the perminent damage done from that amount MDMA. However SWIM had once taken around 500mg in a night and experienced as part of the comedown of the following few weeks held similar paranoid depressing thoughts of the damage done to himself. SWIM recovered and feels like SWIM had before. SWIM believes that a large part of what SWIY thinks is purely the paranoia experienced on a heavy comedown.

Re: Advice needed - MDMA Abuse

the big problem is that serotonin has functions with blood flow and stuff
your best bet is piracetam wich seems to make serotonin receptors more sensitive

Re: Advice needed - MDMA Abuse

The kind of dosage that your talking about is going to cause a complete and utter depletion of serotonin. With 0 serotonin paranoia dominates and as metnioned above heavily affects blood flow and other key functions. 5_HTP will quicken the recovery. Dont worry it's very unlikely to be perminant while doing that dosages is a bit irresponsible many many people have been there and as long as it isnt repeated too often (or at all) then SWIY will be alright.

Time unfortunately is the factor here. SWIF in his experiences would notice a sudden change of general function when it returned and the progress of normal healthy thought wasnt progressive it was sudden.

Re: Advice needed - MDMA Abuse

Doses that high probably release a large amount of dopamine, so SWIY might be experience not just a MDMA-like comedown, but also one similar to coming down on methamphetamine. Try taking L-tyrosine at about 2000mg per hour for a couple hours until SWIY feels better. This is tested and works very well.

Swim did about an ounce of meth over about a month and swim was retarded for like a week. The good news is that swim did recover.

Re: Advice needed - MDMA Abuse

Ok thanks for that. It's little things - like when I'm writing I end up repeating myself loads and my words have no structure at all - which I imagine is because my short term memory is shot to shit........ Sometimes I forget what I'm thinking about and can't find the right words for anything. I also make loads of mistakes which is quite rare for me.......

Sometimes I actually like I'm brain damaged - I can keep up with people speaking but I don't feel like I'm always 100% with it

SWIM assumes you left out a word between "actually" and "like" and that you don't mean you like being brain damaged.

Re: Advice needed - MDMA Abuse

SWIY should recover soon enough, as others have said 5-HTP is known to help certain MDMA side effects.
At least SWIY has learned a valuable lesson! SWIY probably knows this now but more than 500mg of MDMA in one night will not increase the positive effects of MDMA and only serve to increase the side effects for most people.

Retarded. Doesn't know what he's saying. Gets lost listening to someone else speak...perfect. If you don't recover, you can get a job with the Romney For President campaign.

Re: Advice needed - MDMA Abuse

SWIY can recover. The mind and body are amazing things (maybe SWIM is just being positive becuase he's reading The Brain That Changes Itself a fascinating book about neuroplasticity and the brain's ability to recover, reform, compensate, etc.) A healthy diet and 5thp and piracetam will likely help. As will exercise. Also, do things that you enjoy, and try learning something new, study something of interest to work on sharpening your brain. Continuing to write will also likely be beneficial. Best of luck with the recovery. Keep positive. People have recovered from worse

And let us know how it goes.

Oh, also adaptogens such as rhodiola rosea or ginseng would likely come in handy.

Re: Advice needed - MDMA Abuse

SWIM knows many people who have been in your shoes, fortunatly you should be alright. Although science is not sure about the true affects of X on your brain, peoples expierences will attest that you can recover. To fully recover from MDMA use ( especially the ammount you used ) Should very well take somewhere over a month. Treat your body right and participate in healthy activities and i can almost assure you that you will return to your normal state

Good luck and stay calm bro, SWIUs have all been there

Re: Advice needed - MDMA Abuse

Thanks MedicineMan, SWIM is starting to feel a little better but still gets times when he can't think straight for shit. Memory is also pretty awful. But give it a month and hopefully SWIM will see some major improvement! )

Re: Advice needed - MDMA Abuse

SWIM will. The human mind is a very efficient self-righting system. Food. Sleep. Vitamins. Patience. And a few well-placed kicks in the ass for letting that happen.
