Extraction - LSA extraction from Hawaiian Baby Woodrose Seeds

A friend has begun an extraction process from HBWR seeds using petroleum ether and ethanol. However at the first stage (leaving the crushed seeds in petroleum ether to produce nonpolar solution) he used 130g of seeds and 500ml of ether. He expected to find a cloudy solution, instead after about 30 hours the solution had become a hard clay like substance. Please help if anyone can offer any advice asap, it will be much appreciated. If it was hard and clay like SWIM assumes the seeds must have been ground to virtually a powder, also this stage should be done in a sealable container, otherwise the pet ether will evaporate off. leaving everything it drew out of the seeds back in them again.

Exactly. Use Petrolium or just White Gas. You know about the acid adgitation nessisary in the following procedure right? Try adding water and letting it soak, you need to do a water extraction anyway.
