DOC overdose threshold is fairly high

A certain lab monkey broke into swims stash and unknowingly ingested a bag of 30 mg's of DOC. This ape tripped a good 20 or so hours but suffered no negative health consequences do to his reckless theft. Swim was worried about the apes immediate health as there have been hospitalizations at 10 mg's which swim assumes is because of police involvement. It appears though that DOC is fairly safe in regards to ridiculous dosing.

Thought I'd throw that out there since this was the highest Dose of DOC swims ever heard of.

Reports of this, not involving hospitalizations, are rare. But at this dosage - quite survivable.

Worst case scenario I personally know of was a friend of Bongo who had some old DOI kicking about. He took 5mg. And he forgot that DOI takes about 2 hours to announce itself. So he thought it had gone bad - and swallowed the rest: total dose was 25mg +.

His date became highly concerned when he stopped talking and responding to her (she was a psychiatrist-in-training). So, as they were driving about upperish New York state, near Millbrook of all places, Dr. Wannabe flipped out and called 911. Soon Bongo's altered-statesman friend was in a sea of flashing, rotating lights. And sirens. Off to hospital he went - followed by his Wicked Witch (cue music).

At the hospital he managed to explain he'd taken a 5 times OD of a psychedelic amphetamine and it was legal, thus far. They gave him a shot of Valium (diazepam) and more orally. The ER crew probably figured he was the last to come out of Millbrook. He said he felt fine, was having lovely imagery, and would be down in about 20 hours or less. They told him if he wanted more Valium - just holler.

The good Doctor Wannabe, however (who had taken nothing) was raising a ruckus in the waiting room. Shrieking. Howling. Begging God to heal her dying date. And the ER staff had had about enough of her. They approached DOI-Boy (Bongo's friend) on his gurney: "Do you think you can go talk your friend in the waiting room down? She's going nuts!" So DOI-Boy, our victim-hero, sauntered out of the ER, walls dripping and serpents breathing, to try to talk his mistake of a date down from absolutely nothing. He finally got her to shut up. Much to the relief of the doctors.

After 12 hours or so, and a few more Valiums (which the doctors were likely taking also after dealing with Madame Freud), Bongo's counter-culture friend told the staff he was good to go. They asked him if he'd take her with him and gave him his car keys. Vroooom!

He was back to his normal self shortly thereafter, dodging hallucinations on the highway, and took her home (hers). He called Bongo to relate his ventures. Bongo told him he saw this coming - if he kept trolling for tuna around nuthouses. "One day, Juan, one day a staff-member will follow you home. I just don't understand why you go to looneybins to find dates...."

He was no worse for wear.

nano's friends licked a powdery baggie of DOI that inadvertently they came into possession of. one had a psychotic breakdown and checked his bad self into the local padded wall facility for the mid to ongoing term, one became unresponsive to external stimuli but shouted in his native tongue - his SO had the presence of mind to call nano 26 hours later at 4:20 in the morning, to be talked down enough to deal with any emergent medical symptomatics, the third of the bunch, having an inhuman constitution in regards to psychoactives metabolism slept most of the way thorough the 40 hours - as in snoring and loud, but claimed it to be a great experience and offered to build for certain someone a permanent gilded shrine in the middle of his urban nightclub - should that someone ever want to move in. all three make the sign of the cross when the tale is brought up, even though none are religious. two have developed a serious respect for and a neurotic fear of small amounts of white crystalline matter, the third took off on the vodka train tour trans-siberian style.

On the more serious side, it's important to keep in mind that it's only a matter of time before such accidents result in another tragedy. One excerpt from PIHKAL:

Actually, it is very likely that the damaging, if not lethal, level of DOB in man is a lot lower than this ratio would imply. There was a report of a death of a young lady following the snorting of an amount of DOB so massive, there was the actual recovery of over nine milligrams of the drug from her body tissues in the post-mortem examination. It was said that she and her companion had thought that the drug they were using was MDA and, taking a dosage appropriate for this, effectively overdosed themselves. He survived, following convulsions and an extended period (several weeks) of being in a comatose state. Tragic examples have been reported that involve arterial vascular spasm. But in most overdose cases ascribed to DOB, the identity of the drug has remained unestablished.

While it's true that the doses were insufflated, and it's reasonable to assume that they ingested anywhere from 80 - 150 mg each, this story and the others related above point out that ignorance and mistaken identity are major factors in DO-X overdoses.

Attached is a report from a forensic journal about two DOB overdoses in 2005 in the Czech Republic, one of which resulted in death. These chemicals especially need to be kept in labeled vials and under lock and key. The baggy of powder in the shaving kit with the weed and nitrous is reckless and irresponsible.

Swim recently made a startling discovery that may have made this potentially terrifying if not dangerous combination possible. Swims friend who indulged in the DOC also appears to use tramadol in high dosage daily. Swim until recently did not put together that tramadol also doubles as an SSRI which may have reduced some of the pyschedelic effects significantly. I'm not sure if this would effect a dose as high as he took significantly but it is something to note in regards to this report.
