Hello,
I shot heroin for the first time a couple of nights ago. While it felt very nice, I have decided not to repeat the experement. Since then I have felt horrible. . .at first I passed it off as withdrawl (from my first hit?), but now I am growing concerned that I may be suffering from some sort of infection. The injection site is clean and shows no sign of infection, as of yet I do not have a fever. . I just feel awfull. I used a new/sterile needle and was carefull to swab the injection site. While my initial reaction is to see a doc, I am worried about repercussions for bringing up a heroin related issue. Should I see a doctor or am I just a hypocondriac? Any thoughts would be appreciated. |

OneDiaDem,
thanks for your reply. At the moment, headache, runny nose, indigestion (specifically heartburn. . which is what has me worried. . is it heartburn or chest pains?), lethargy. I DO NOT feel deathly ill, but I feel ill enough to ask. I have never done anything this hard before, so it is hard for me to guage how off I really am. -Thank You |

When in doubt, see the doc. Ask the doctor to not write anything about heroin down. Say you need it to be off the record. If they refuse, or give you shit, find a doctor that respects you and confidentiality laws.
There's a big difference between heartburn and chestpains. Have you eaten food that could cause heartburn? Sometimes people do a little dope, and when they come off it they've got a nasty cold, sore throat, whatever. This has happened to me on meth, not heroin. Heroin just made me ache the next day. Not to uncommon to feel like shit after using when the drug wears off. If you're scared, though, see the doc. A lot more people than you'd think confide these issues to their doctors. That's what their job is. |

most likely you are just nervous since it was your first time (i havnt done heroin so i dont know) its likely just your mind constantly focused on the fact that you have done a hard drug and now every little thing is getting you nervous and worried, could be your diet, sleeping habits, a cold, anything. but there is also no harm in seeing a doctor but be sure to take the steps in which manda said. peace.
