The dangers of insufflation?

SWIM has a script for oxy, 10mg pills twice a day.

Alot of times the pain is so bad SWIM will snort a pill to get the immediate effect instead of waiting for a pill to work orally.

Latley SWIMs g/f has been giving him alot of guff about snorting. And SWIM himself worries what snorting oxycontin will do to him in the long run.

SWIM figured since there wasnt any APAP in the pills the dangers were minimal. Yet SWIM is very inexperienced and has never really snorted anything before.

SWIM has heard of things like "fluid on the lungs", he forgets the actually term used.

SWIM usually snorts a small amount of water after he snorts a pill.

SWIM appreciates any help.

Re: The dangers of insufflation?

Snorting something shouldn't affect the lungs, unless swim is misunderstanding the phrase. When swiy snorts something, it passes into swiys blood vessels in his upper nose, where it is pumped to the brain. And I cant see how snorting water would help, although swim has never tried it. Snorting anything will damage swiys nose, but it will take a long time. Although snorting two pills a day isn't a good idea. perhaps if swiy swallow the pills on an empty stomach it will help.

Re: The dangers of insufflation?

For SWIM Oxy’s seems to be much easier/smoother on the nose when snorted than many other drugs, as long as they are crushed up fine. But that still does not mean it is ok to do for a long time. What SWIM would recommend is crushing the pill up (to defeat the time release), then putting it in an empty gel cap and popping it. It will not come on as fast as snorting it, but its better than popping it uncrushed.

SWIM snorts a lil droplet of water after putting a good 20mg of oxy into his nose. SWIM says it seems to help get whatever clung to his many nose hairs into his sinus cavity.

And when snorting SWIM is of the understanding that there is some air going into the lung area and in effect some of the powdery substance. Tramadols are supposedly extra dangerous to snort for this reason.

SWIM will try crushing it up tommorow morning.

Re: The dangers of insufflation?

Plugg it. There are many more mucous membranes in your inner anus than in your nasal cavity and it won't damage your nose.

kaczynski is a decent SWIMmer.
Re: The dangers of insufflation?

It can damage SWIY's nose, yes, but keep in mind that this is also basically going straight to your brain. Plus, like people already mentioned, it takes a ton of habitual use over a long period of time to do any substantial damage to the nasal cavity.
