Personalities of spirits
Each spirit seems to have it's own personality, a sort of standard atmosphere attributed to it. Anybody else noticed this?
Whiskey and scotch bring to mind sitting in some laid back dark bar listening to the wailing of Tom Waits or some jazz. Perhaps pontificating upon how crazy life is with some friends while ordering another round of whiskey's and another pitcher of beer. Tequila brings to mind getting crazy, fiesta-style, taking a plethura of shots, perhaps dancing foolishly, and undoubtedly getting into some kind of trouble on a summer night. Rum could go any direction. As my dear friend / ex-fiance is fond of saying "rum goes with everything, it's the new black" but brings to mind meandering aimlessly through the streets barhopping and acting like a pirate for no real good reason. Or getting into dumb fights in which you don't really even know what you're arguing about, LOL.Anybody have any more? |

Re: Personalities of spirits
Calvados- reminds me of really posh hotels, and old men sitting around drinking it
Baileys- not sure if its a spirit, but brings back memories of 13 year olds totally pissed in town. |

Re: Personalities of spirits
A book SWIM was reading recently managed to describe two spirits very well, rum and whisky. SWIM can't remember the exact quote but it went something like this "Whisky is the bottled essence of the cold scottish highlands while rum is the bottled essence of a hot beach in the carribean". SWIM found it quite funny.
