cessation of marijuana smoking after 12 years makes me go wacko!
background: smoked pot daily for at least 12 years
whenever swim goes off pot he goes kind of mildly psychotic for about two days after cessation. it usually seems if swim smokes more than two days in a row it will happen. swim's got issues under the surface no denying that but the pot seems to really bring it out when the smoking stops. i know its taboo to say "pot does this and that" but my swim's friend seems to go a little nuts as well and he's better off mentally than swim. so far it seems that if swim smokes more than 2 days in a row (meaning a third day) this will happen.. but it doesn't seem to if its once a week (its rare for swim to only smoke one day a week as he's always been hardcore). so if you smoke pot daily for more than 5 years do you get the same kind of psyhco reaction or anything ? |

Re: hartdcore pot smoking + cessation = wacko
SWIL had same experience the first time he run out of pot after a long time of heavily smoking. He would wake at 5-6 am and be terribly anxious about little problems and got irritable over nothing.
Not long ago SWIL attemted quitting and also had a very bad 2 days, he was 3 days off and decided weed let him be relaxed and calm in a good way and allowed him to deal with everyday shit so he thought there was no reason to quit. After that SWIL went on vacation with his GF and decided not to smoke. He popped some xanax the first day for sleeping and then stayed clean for 8 days with no withdrawal symptoms and popping a few mg of alprazolam (xanax) but nothing too high. He takes benzo recreationally and for anxiety and never had problem with addiction. Anyway this was a good time for SWIL and when he came back home he smoked and remembered how great weed really was, his tolerance was down and the first hits were enough to put him in a way he long ago felt when smoking his first joints. No he tries to smoke less often and less amounts. So the point is, to avoid those psychotic 2 days take a vacation and stay away of your problems, your everyday stress and then smoke less. Weed is like many other drugs in SWIL's opinion, it looses part of its magic when abused. |

Perhaps, with his heavy smoking, Swiy has been suppressing their alter ego? Or do they just not know how it feels to be away from the stuff? Its one or the other

Man..
I never had this problem myself (not especially fond of pot). But everyone I know that smoke daily or have been sooner or later feel like crap. I doubt any drug is healthy for body or mind when taken daily. I agree with Lehendakari, you should really smoke less often. I bet it will give you a better high and less worries. There's a lot of other nice stuff to do than drugs, and once again: doing it only once in a while will only increase the magic overall! |

Re: hartdcore pot smoking + cessation = wacko
Anyone in the cannibas forum will tell swiy that this is nonsense. Pot is completely beneavolent and has no negative effects whatsoever. It must be that you have other problems because cllearly pot is 100% benign and harmless and anyone who says different is a jack booted government thug! Stop your campaign of lies!
(PS Swim went nuts when he quit too but don't tell anyone in the cannibas forum or they will string swim up!) |

Re: hartdcore pot smoking + cessation = wacko
Not really, its a form of psychological addiction, anything can cause psychological addiction, games, cocaine, pot, any prescription drugs, water, ANYTHING. It varies from person to person, everyone is different.
So no methmadman i will not disagree, i will say that at least the reason i say pot is mostly harmless is because it causes no phsyical addiction, but the mental addiction can be very real for some people. Its just not the majority. |

Re: hartdcore pot smoking + cessation = wacko
Mr. Angry tells me he smoked really hardcore for about a year (or something like that)
After he stopped, surprisingly, nothing at all happened. But he has a friend that got pissed off easily and cold sweats after he stopped. So, Mr. Angry guesses it all depends on the person. |

Re: hartdcore pot smoking + cessation = wacko
IMO the most dangerous thing about cannabis is the fact that a majority of the users thinks it is extremely benign and not dangerous in any way.
![]() Sure, not physically addictive but psychological addiction and problems related to the abuse of cannabis can be just as destructive and have a very negative impact on a persons life. A lot of people can handle smoking cannabis daily for long periods of time and go cold turkey without any negative effects at all, but there is also a lot of people who can't do just that. Also in my experience people who currently is engaged in daily use tend to be somewhat naive of any negative side effects and tend to realize this first when looking in the back mirror after a period of abstinence. I am not saying that cannabis is a very unhealthy drug and I would not disagree to the fact that the negative effects are more or less only temporarily, that just doesn't mean that heavy (ab)use can't get you into trouble. Moderation is the key to the use of any drug in my experience. |

Yes, but since the 'withdrawl' is completely psychological, those who suffer from it can be properly classified as 'mentally weak'. Quote:

Re: hartdcore pot smoking + cessation = wacko
Personally, swim feels that it can be psychologically habit forming, and wouldn't classify that as being mentally weak. No tobacco substance is good for you for obvious documented health reasons (and swim DOES smoke) however, swim agrees that it depends on the person, as with anyone else.
