Salvia divinorum, possibly helpful?

Ive been hearing numerous reports (In articles, friends, online, etc.) the salvia divinorum helps many people in many ways. I know that the drug is "intended" for religious and spiritual reasons but exactly how has salvia helped people? If salvia has helped you, in what way did it help? Does salvia effect you in positive ways? Neative??

It leaves me with a good overall feeling for about a week every time I smoke it. Almost a calm, peace with myself.

The only negative is its kind of harsh on my lungs, but that only lasts a little while. One time it made me feel like my head was in a vice, but lasted only as long as the trip did.</font>

After a trip I feel very sober... And it made me realize how prescious the human mind is. I don't think of it as a 'fun' trip. It is really really weird. There's no euphoria in it at all. at least not in my experiences(yet).
