Drug info - Need information on ATENOLOL 100MG

SWIM just acquired 100mg atenolol. white round pill with 93 on top and 753 under the 93. SWIM was told it was xanax but immedietly knew otherwise...what I need to know is if they are similar...because SWIM regularly takes vicodin and was looking for something with a similar effect. Also how dangerous if at all is atenolol 100mg?

Atenolol is a beta-blocker. It has no recreational potential. It DOES however have the potential to cause profound bradycardia, hypotension and even complete heart block requiring a temporary pacemaker. Not to mention the bad dreams and the impotence.

Wouldn't it be beneficial if swim mixed this with marijuana or high doses of caffeine?

I suppose if you think Complete Heart Block is beneficial (I hate the fact that that you have to say {sarcasm} on the internet to get this sort of thing across, whereas in real life it would be profoundly obvious from body language, tone of voice etc)

Low dose b-blockers are (occasionally) useful for reducing the tremor associated with anxiety.

I cannot stress hard enough that 100mg of Atenolol is BAD NEWS. Did you see the bit where I said profound bradycardia and hypotension, and what about the bit about needing a temporary pacemaker?

In addition to the wise points Jatelka made, I want to advise not to get clever and combine betablockers with stimulant drugs in an attempt to balance out heartrate/blood pressure issues -- it's well known that this can create problems with unopposed alpha-adrenergic stimulation. Result can be dangerously high blood pressure. Also, the euphoric/energizing effects of your stimulant will probably be diminished to nothingness, so.

At a much lower dosage, betablocker might produce something like that -- but I have to tell, it definitely won't be euphoric or fun at any dosage. They tend to induce depression in people.
