Just been mugged at Knife point, well last night

So Swim was walking home minding my own buisness, when two guy started shouting swim turned around spoke to em for a min or so and then one pulled a kinfe on swim and said give me your money. At this point, swim thought he could take the guy BUT there is two of em and he has a knife, so swim told em him he aint getting shit, swim then just ran away. Though swim knows the area well and swim also know where all the CCTV cameras are so he managed to make it to a shop front by this time tired(yeah he is out of shape). swim told the guy look CCTV, but he didnt give a shit and demanded my money. So of swim ran again across the road till finaly he couldn't run any more, he then punched me a couple of times, which to swim where weak punched, though he had a knife.

This time he seemed really pissed off and threatened to stab swim so he gave him £10, swim said this is all he has but the attacker demanded more so he gave him another £10. His mate then demanded all my change so I gave em about 40p. What else can I do ? I am on my own and unarmed.

Anyway within 1 min of swim handing his cash over he dialed 999 and asked for the police, they put swim through and said they would arrange for a squad car to pic him up. By this time he noticed this guy was trying to sneak up on him so swim started shouting on the phone there after me again with a knife. So swim headed ointo town where this guy, now without his weapon punches swim to the floor and swims phone then drops out of his hand and skids across the floor. By now he was really out of breath and there was nothing i could of done. Yeah swim thinks the weed he smoked 1 hour before didn't help much.

swim then made my way his way into a pizza place and asked could he use the phone to call the police but they wouldn't let swim, he was kinda worried about these guys following him again. Anyway 5 Min's later swim got to the police station and told the police what had happened.






They had already been arrested by armed response team and where already in police custody, swims cash and phone have already been recovered.
swim was told that they rarely pick people up this fast and swim was lucky. swim was questioned and gave a full description of em which matched the people they had caught.


In the station when swim was giving a stament the police asked if swim had been smoking because swim stank of weed, they just told him to give up cos its bad.
They didnt seach any part of me or even ask to look into my bag.

It bothers swim that he was too unfit from smoking and too stoned to properly defen him self though swim is not gona risk a fighting people if they are armed.
swims best plan was to go for all the CCTV hot zones, which worked out perfectly.


So now swim waiting to get my stuff back, which is a big pain, but swim was told that they will be going down for somethinig like 3/4 years.
Swim has been thinking about it for ages, but swim is gona have to quit the herb, its just too dangerous for swim to be mellowed out and unable to defend him self.
Plus the whole smoking with tobbaco is making me short of breath when i run lots

So becaue of them swim was stuck at the police station for about 3 hours, hope they get fucked up the arse at prision.

That sucks, Swim thinks if he was in Swiys position, he would've looked for a large rock on the ground to throw at the crazy knifeman. Then head into a store to make a few leisurely investments. Also, quitting the herb is such an extremity, has Swiy considered alternatives such as taking a break every now and then?

If you are not used to violence and fighting, and if you don't have the right mindset for it: Just run. If you don't know what to do: Run. Some people handle these things differently, attacking first and extremely hard. But most people would fail, maybe even get killed. It takes a special person to turn the situation around, and if you've never been in a similar situation then just walk away.

The guy him self didnt seemed to much of a threat but he had a friend, even if I held of one attacker whats the chances the other one didnt get the knife and stick me. If there was no weapons involved I would of fought back. But instead I decided the best thing I could do was find some CCTV cameras and try and get the whole thing on tape.

Yeah well real life isn't that easy. If there's a knife in sight, fucking run. The OP did what he could and showed some basic awareness (staying in sight of cameras)

Running is fun 'n all, until Swiy discovers that the knifeman is actually a former Olympic sprinter. It also couldn't hurt to carry around a few counterfeit bills, to pleasantly soothe the bandit's appetite.

A (very wasted) scumbag attempted to mug SWIM's younger brother a few weeks back. He was lucky enough to have been able to ring their house where SWIM and his friend were (also very wasted). They ran out and scared the scummy fuck off. He was later picked up by the Gardaí and thrown in a cell, apparently, for threatening people.

You'll get people like this no matter where you go. When you're outnumbered and at knifepoint it's absolutely terrifying and if you don't know what else to do, running as fast as your legs will carry you is the best idea. Travelling at night with friends and being able to defend yourself are also good though, I think. Scumbags will be able to mug innocent people indefinitely until we don't tolerate it anymore.

You were very lucky. A guy who lives in my town (I didn't know him) was stabbed to death over the weekend in what was apparently a similar situation. Never stand up to anyone with a knife, no amount of money is worth dying over.

Take it from me, Ive been held up at gun point twice, and a knife once. The best thing to do is to give them what they ask for, even running is risky, as sometimes it can piss them off.

In all 3 armed robberies, I probably lost a grand total of around 30-40 dollars, when if i did something else, and gotten hurt, thats probably about how much the hospital bill would be post insurance and all.

Although they are 3 of the scariest moments of my life and ill never let it happen again.

However, knowing where the cameras are would really help out, I wish my old town had cameras, its a shame the local government has no idea how to raise revenue in a city and continues to drive it down the shitter only increasing the amount of poor and impoverished people

Thanks all, but yeah I should of kicked hiss ass, but at the time i was in a a poorly unlit area and i wanted to get him on cctv, my friends have been mugged and they just handed over the cash, not something i was about to do easily. Plus I was thinking, beating him up and risking my self isnt gona do much especial if i get the police involved, but in my case he was caught on CCTV, he was caught with my property and now he is going down for at least 3 years.

If he just got a beating he may still be on the streets now, but when he did show the knife i didnt take him serious enough it was only when I ended up serious out of breath and was then unable to run or fight i had to give in to the bastard. I am seriously thinking about getting fit or something, so next time I can give em the runaround, get to thoes cctv cameras and then finaly do something about my attackers instead of almost collapsing becasue me being unfit.

I highly reccomend taking up jogging for a couple of mornings a week, it brings up your cardiovascular fitness by so much and will make you a lot more capable, not that its likely to happen again, but if it does then you'll be in a much better state.

If you think normal exercise is boring, you could take up a martial art. Any of them would be good, but I'd personally recommend Jiu Jitsu. You could also start drumming - it gives your arms and legs a lot of exercise if you do it every day.

Sorry to hear that, a friend of mine got robbed a couple of weeks back as well... Getting into fight is probably not a good idea though, if only because you don't know how healthy the guy is (har-har). Maybe he's got hepatitis? HIV? Who knows, and in the process of making mincemeat of his face you're likely to get some cuts on your knuckles (or if he lands a fist on your lips, etc). Not worth teaching the dick a lesson.

Yeah, detroit cops dont have the highest amount of respect or care towards their constituents from the times spent their.

One time in the detroit greyhound station back when I was 15 or so I had to get off for a transfer to ann arbor and some creepy pervert tried to get me into the bathroom with him, I told the cops and they did NOTHING, they went and talked to him, he denied it and they did NOTHING after that. Then 4-5 years later when I am there again, I get pulled over for rolling a stop sign at 1 in the morning and the guy was a complete asshole.
