The New Adderall XR: Vyvanse

Today at the doctor's office I got a free 30 day trail for vyvanse, A new supposed non-abusable form of Dextro-amphetamine that lasts even longer than adderall XR. Vyvanse is lisdexamfetamine dimesylate, witch, long story short, is a prodrug. (a drug that is not active until metabolised in vivo (in the body) into the active compound.) so Insufflating it wont do you any good, It has to be eaten. Basically lisdexamfetamine dimesylate is amphetamine with added molecules that break down in the body to release the active substance. They are available in 30mg, 50mg, and 70mg doses. I still left with my regular adderall, but ill take any form of free amphetamine.

Swim always thought scheduled drugs were restricted from being given out as samples, perhaps this sample had various strings attached? From what Swim recently read about Vyvanse it is still readily abusable orally, but the attachment of an amino acid which is removed in the intestinal tract would prevent most other types of administration. Swim wonders if a rectal dose would be best route considering that the intestines are where the drug becomes active.

The 30 day free trial is dispensed at the pharmacy. You present the prescription with a card that you call to activate in order to get the 30-day free trial.

My mistake I assumed you referred to something dispensed directly by the doctor.

Not the same drug, but similar. Vyvanse's only active amphetamine is dextroamphetamine in a mixture with the amino acid lysine. I would say it is more similar to Dexedrine because it only contains that amphetamine, and no other amphetamine analogues. All of these amphetamine types are similar, with minor differences which may make them more effective for certain people.

I was recently given a free trial that was recommended me to my pyschiatrist over my current prescribed med which was Adderall XR. He described to me how it lasts longer throughout the day due to the way it was metabolized. However I have noticed that during the end of the day it leaves me feeling drained, and often resulting in a headache or a migraine. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Would there perhaps be a way SWIM could filter the lysine off the amphetamine yielding only amphetamine?

Yea, Vyvanse is more similar to Dexedrine. adderall xr contains 4 different salts. Vyvanse only has one active amphetamine salt. my bad.
