shooting up on television ...How do you feel watching it?

swims question is... after being a junkie for 9 yrs, she cleaned her act up. for 2 1/2 yrs now she's been a good girl. abstaining from all drugs and the bad dreams have ceased.
*** so why is it that when she turns on the t.v., there are several different channels that think it's either "educational" or "entertaining" to show someone shooting up. in swims opinion it's neither. all it makes swim want to do, is get high. she can't even watch for long, and she ends up turning the channel to calm down. noone needs to see that ... especially kids. swim knows that it's a parents' responsibility to monitor their childs' t.v. watching, but that's a whole diff subject. why does seeing this make swim want to vomit, and make her hands tremble. why does this still bother swim so much? will it ever go away? Please advise.

Re: shooting up on television ...

Shooting up often becomes a lifestyle once started, it becomes a daily routine and a part of life on the person shooting up. If a person quits shooting up, but sees it on television, than it's normal for the person to be reminded of the often not so happy lifestyle the person left behind. But people shooting up is reality, it happens, and so that's why movies and documentaries are made about it, though it's very understanding SWIY can't stand it, it's just like someone showing you the drug you've been addicted to for a long time, but had quit for many years, it brings back bad memories of a not too pleasant lifestyle, being addicted.
