Withdrawal after first time?

SWIM has dabbled with some opiates such as oxycontin, percocets and opium but these uses were few and far between. However he has always wanted to try heroin and is wondering if one goes through the horrible withdrawals that he has heard about after only one use. He would never IV it, it would most likely be smoked or snorted. Thanks in advance for your help!
