DMT on the cheap.
Just a note (or a bookmark) for my friend SWIM. This looks like a very cheap way to produce DMT for only a few bucks: http://www.dmt.20m.com/ instead of the mega cash (£500+) that SWIM has spent so far.
I guess he figured that if he bought plenty (2KG mimosa) if he screwed it up, he could always try again. But this looks cheap and doable and doesn't sweat over expensive glass and ceramic containers and specialized equipment and so on. Yet he still gets healthy amounts from a relatively small amount It's pretty much DMT on demand at minimum cost. |

Re: DMT on the cheap.
That's a horrible tek - it won't work.
Swim should use Marsofold's if Swim wants to do an A/B. |

Apparently it did work, for him.

Re: DMT on the cheap.
Placebo effect ftw? SWIM doesn't see how that could possibly work.

Re: DMT on the cheap.
OK explain your scepticism.
The tek is pretty much verbatim and entirely in keeping with the majority of other teks I have read, acidification, basification, defat (although as he points out with Mimosa Hostilis the defat and acidification steps may not be required). The only difference is in the inexpensive and readily available materials he uses. So what part exactly do you have a problem with? It seems for example that using simple plastic containers does not harm the process very much (if at all), which if I had known would have probably saved me a significant small fortune in expensive glasware and non plastic utensils etc. |

Re: DMT on the cheap.
It's not the containers that are the problem, he starts off describing an A/B that only basifies to pH 10 and then his method is a straight to base that also doesn't use enough lye.
BTW - one can buy a glass carboy for about 20 USD. |

Re: DMT on the cheap.
Yeah, fair point. But you can adjust his tek and still go for a relatively cheap thrill.

Re: DMT on the cheap.
Swim will be attempting a marsofold tek in the near future and was wondering if using some plastic substitutes instead of glass would be a signifcant setback in yield (i.e. a plastic turkey baster as opposed to a glass pipette). Would this still work, or should swim just go on and get the glass?

Re: DMT on the cheap.
I did not read the entire article but from my glance I could not see why it would not work. Acid/base extractions never require any fancy glassware/equipment and or expensive/hard to get chemicals. Fancy equipment may simplify the procedure but is never an requirement. Hydrochloric acid and sodium hydroxide is cheap. So is a good solvent. A separatory funnel could be built from a HDPE bottle with some fiddling. Where I live that wouldn't set you back more than 50 bucks... And it will most likely give almost the same results as if the extraction was done using real laboratory equipment. It would just take a little bit more time and be a little more pain in the ass.
Personally I say forget about specific teks that call for specific equipment/stuff. Just learn the theoretical basics behind acid/base extractions and you could turn your old TV into an semi-automatic DMT extractor (ok, maybe not but almost).
