Combinations - Mixing Research Chemicals With SSRI's

I'm currently on 75 mg effexor daily. I have the opportunity to do 2c-e, but I don't know how that would mix with the effexor.


Effexor is a SNRI. Anyone with experience from mixing effexor with RC's? Or have an idea of what the problem might/might not be?Anything would be appreciated.

I haven't personaly tried RCs on an SSRI or SNRI but I knew a kid that took 2c-t-2 while he was taking wellbutrin and he basiclly flipped out and had to go to the hospital. 75 mg seems like I pretty high dosage so I'd do alot of research. Also start really low to start with if you decide to do it. Maby even a threshold dose like 5 mg. Be safe

75 mg Venlafaxine isn't that high a dose, but as
Hippie_Iain says, be careful! Venlafaxine(generic
Effexor) is quite a stimulating little med, although
not as much as Wellbutrin(a SDRI, acting on dopamine,
with reportedly a coke like effect, and with a
reputation for nasty side effects, with or without
polydrugging!). That said I've known people have
breathing difficulties, panic attacks, paranoia and
mania on even low dose Venlafaxine on it's own and when
combined with other pharms, so read up on the full
effects of both drugs before combining. Look out
whether it has a MAOI effect(use the Search Engine for
more info on MAOI's), length of action, dosage/effect,
interactions, after effects... Good places to start

From what I understand about SSRI's and SNRI's, they are both partially
competing for the same nerve receptors as phenethylamines such as
2C-E. It would follow that the effect of 2C-E would be lessoned if one has
been using the SSRI's and SNRI's.

Don't do it...There are all kind of biochemical things that can go wrong i.e Serotonin Syndrome ect. In general SSRI's should not be mixed with anything. And if you are on them you problem are not in the mental condition to be expermenting with mind altering drugs.

I have taken MDMA on effexor and I can tell you the experience was quite different than had I not been on it. I did not get that "awsome" feeling and was very disapointed. I felt fucked up but the magic was missing.


I can trip hard on DMT no problem, and coffee still gives me the runs. So other than that, I have not experienced any other problems..


I think the interaction would be directed at drugs that target the seretonin and dopamine receptors, but whatta I know. Im just the guy over there.

I'm sorrry but from all i gather and persnol experience wellbutrin's side effects are no where near other anti depressants

SWIM has mixed SSRIs with RCs and has found that they do still have noted effects, however they are not as strong as when SWIM did the without being on SSRIs. Others may have had different experiences based on what RCs they took, as well as what SSRI/SNRI they are on. SWIM has no experience with effexor so cannot speak on that topic specifically.

Q has taken a 2ci, salvia & mushroom tea while on Effexor. The effects where actually very good... all the way to ++++ on the shulgin scale. He's also smoked plenty of Ganja without negative side effects, he did experience some tremors in his limbs but he considered them a neutral side effect as it was not a serious problem. On lsd the experiences where very inclined to the dark side, and often resulted negative [not sure if this was only coincidential].
He also took san pedro, while on effexor.

Effexor is contradicted with MAOI's and as far as Q knows that's the only scenario where serotonin syndrome has been reported [stay away from ayahuasca]. Other interations have been reported, but they appear to be isolated events.

Regarding Wellbutrin... Q has also taken Wellbutrin for some time [Q's been through a bunch of SSRI]. He has taken lsd, mushrooms, pedro, ganja, hashish, salvia -smoked and chewed- & mdma while on wellbutrin, without negative interactions... the mdma trip did seem to be different more anxious... but Q suspects to other substances being sold as MDMA, as he has experienced similar trips without Wellbutrin.

Wellbutrin is different from the more commonly used ssri's. It is a dopamine and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor. It has very little effect on serotonin. Because of this it has side effects that are more common with stimulants than antidepressants. The most notable difference is lack of sexual side effects in wellbutrin. It actually has the exact opposite effect of ssri's, increasing sexual desire.
