Salvia Divinorum a dissociative?
I've occasionally noticed salvia referred to as a dissociative, and it's referred to as such in wiki's page on dissociatives.
Now SWIM's experience with dissociatives is limited to nitrous and DXM. DXM, in particular, seems to match the "definition" of a dissociative: senory imputs seem disconnected with the conscious mind to some degree, leading to the impression that one is inhabiting a dream. At large doses, the dissociation is such that one feels unable to interact with the world. Assuming the effect of ketamine resembles DXM in any way, SWIM understands what they mean by the "k hole."
SWIM's experiences with Salvia, however, seem opposite of that. Salvia at low/moderate doses INCREASES SWIM's attatchment to his senses (heightened sensory perception). The world Salvia creates certainly FEELS real, too. At high doses SWIM has had trouble with staying connected, but that was more a case of so much information coming in it was difficult to process it all--basically the reverse of DXM.
Perhaps SWIM's response to salvia is unique, but he'd hesitate to call it dissociative in any way.
