No-smoking a rule in SWIMs flat, each room has a smoke detector.Find a way around it?

SWIMs latest flat does not allow any smoking. SWIM is not a heavy smoker, and only wishes to smoke about once or twice a week. What troubles SWIM is that the fire alarms are hooked up to the fire service and if they come and there isn't a fire SWIMs flat gets a £100 fine. SWIMs other non-smoking and non-drug using flatmates would not appreciate this, though SWIM has said if SWIM ever sets off the fire alarm SWIM will pay for it.

SWIM wonders whether there is still hope or SWIM should just accept it and just eat hash and do stuff like mushrooms instead.

Has any of SWIYs got around this? SWIM was thinking of ways SWIM could cover the fire detector up. SWIMs drug-educated friend says a few SWIYs in uni halls put condoms on the fire alarms. Certainly a good conversation piece....
