Christianity's such an odd religion

"The whole image is: eternal suffering awaits anyone who questions God's infinite love"

Re: Christianity's such an odd religion....?

Budgie's thoughts are that the Bible as we see it today isn't as it was originally written. He thinks (the short version) it was changed over hundreds of years by the 'authorities', to control the masses. Hence the reference to Eternal Suffering.

Everybody did what the Church said, to avoid it.

Re: Christianity's such an odd religion....?

If people actually followed Jesus's teachings, such as being kind to others, giving to charity, helping those in need, and accepting others, then Christianity would be a positive religion. But very few people who claim to be Christians actually practice what Jesus taught, especially the Born Agains who are a serious threat to America's progress. I'm more of a Christian than most Evangelicals, and I've been an atheist since early childhood. Also, all the stories about Jesus doing magic tricks, being born of a virgin, and then turning into a zombie were written nearly a century after he died. And different councils have edited the bibile significantly over time as well as translating it multiple times, thus losing any accuracy it may have once had. It still amazes me that anyone can say with a straight face that the bible is the "word of God" when it so cleary is not.

OMG!!!! jesus is hate!!!! There was no hell until jesus. Then in whatever verse he says(and i paraphrase) I do not come to cancel the laws from the old testiment but to inforce them". This includes the killing of disobediant teenagers. Its just stupid. Maybe i crossed the line but come on. It is so dumb. There are 613 old laws of the new testiment that jesus has come to enforce!!! You have probably broke 600 of them. Saved by grace u say????

So an atheist who pays taxes is a good father and is a humble loving man yet does not believe in jesus will be "a part" from
"god" forever though a child molesting nasty non-taxpaying murdering bastered who be;lieves in god will ahave eternal paridise??? that is a disgusting, nasty perverted religion that should be shuned!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Re: Christianity's such an odd religion....?

Christianity through observation:

I murdered my wife.............................Forgiven
I molested my 6 year old daughter.......Forgiven
I robbed a charity fund........................Forgiven
I think I'm gay....................................OUT! OUT! DEMON!!! CONDEMNED TO HELL!!!!!

SWIM hates how the infinite complexities of the universe were condensed into "You've got two options....it's gonna suck...or it's gonna kick ass"

But SWIM won't judge anyone for that belief, as long as it isn't pressed on others, SWIM doesn't mind what who believes.

Peace
Sal-A

Re: Christianity's such an odd religion....?

Most of the mythic aspects of christianity were derived from greek mythology, added for extra flair to attract more respect from the romans. It is completely impossible to tell what christianity originally looked like or what Jesus said (if there was a historical basis), not even the four gospels can agree on what he taught. Reading the bible becomes quite a headache if you let a little thing like consistency bother you.
