Culture - Our bi-lingual drug culture

Swim has notice a strange occurrence:

The culture and players surrounding America's favorite pasttime are becoming increasingly bi-lingual. Starting with the widespread smoking of marihuana by Americans in Panama and the resulting rise in popularity of the drug on the homefront, to cocaine produced in Columbia and that drugs explosion of abuse starting in the 1980's, and finally ending with the methamphetamine epidemic and the outsource of small time American cooking operations to larger Mexican production cartels has resulted in making the spanish language commonplace in all levels of drug use and sales. Is this an indirect but positive result of the counter culture and resulting drug war?

Not only are the majority of the most popular drugs either trafficked or produced by latin americans, but they are playing an ever increasing role in the sales to the end-user- directly influencing 'drug lingo' and ettiquette. It is noted also that in certain Western state latin americans represent the majority of the prison population- guess why most of these inmates are incarcerated? Yep, drug related offences.

Following American cultural history, other major additions to our culture can be cataloged.

English- protestant religious beliefs are the most widely accepted beliefs in the U.S. Most U.S. presidents and politicians are of WASP heritage! And by the way English tax and embargos of cane molassess on the American colonies directly influences why whisky made from corn is the most popular alcohol in the U.S. today.

Irish- One of the three major Catholic factions here today. Notorious red haired alcoholics- the Irish gave us St. Patty's day! And SA Boston Lager! Fought in the civil war in place for many richer English decended men. Today much of the police force in the East are of Irish decent.

Italians- One of the three Catholic factions. Added their influence to the American palate and expanded organized crime in America. Helped to start Las Vegas- the Italian mafiosos made a fortune during prohibition, and now engage in drug trafficking. Their exploration of O.C. in this country made it possible for others to follow and expand on the idea.

Latin Americans-One of the three Catholic factions and recent contributers to American culture. They have amassed an organized network of smugglers and traffickers never before seen in this country. The organization and revenue of these cartels are unparralled anywhere in the world. Their's is the first language to totally penetrate every facet of American culture.
