Benadryl (diphenhydramine) Overdose. A Query.

SWIM is doing benadryl 25mg(Diphenhydramine hydrochloride) softgels these days and likes it. He has a history of taking anti-depression tablets like alprazolam, nitrazepam and clozepam quite over the permitted levels and has never had problems.

He normally does 300mg but has never hallucinated or felt a surreal experience. They just make him real slow and heavy, similar to drunk feeling. So, he increased his dosage to 500mg yesterday night and enjoyed mild hallucinations which he could easily differenciate from reality. i mean, he knew he was just seeing things as opposed to people reporting that diphenhydramine hallucinations are really strong.

He plans to do 500mg again tonight and wants to know if that could be harmful by adding up yesterday's dosage making it 1000mg which is a dosage that has taken people to ICUs and things like that(as they have mentioned it on erowid and other forums including this one). He felt completely fine after waking up this morning and there were no hangover effects.

He doesn't care if it harms him to a level which can be taken care of at home but doesn't want it to be fatal. He has a sitter and always takes precautions before abusing any drug.

What he wants to know from other forum members is how long does it take for Diphenhydramine to flush out of one's system and doesn't want to do anything foolish by not doing a proper research beforehand.

Thank you.

Re: Benadryl (diphenhydramine) Overdose. A Query.

You are suggesting a dangerous amount to most SWIM'S out there. STOP. And tolerance to diphenhydramine develops rapidly - requiring higher and hight amounts be taken to achieve similar effects.

SWIM's best bet is to stop now and give it a rest. Find something else to occupy time. Or SWIM is bound to land in hospital.

Re: Benadryl (diphenhydramine) Overdose. A Query.

I was wondering in what manner am I 'suggesting' a dangerous amount to SWIYs out here. I am not questioning moderator's post and I am not against it but I think this forum is a nice place and I don't want to do anything stupid and get banned. Did the words like 'liked it' and 'enjoyed' made you write the post?

I make it a point to read rules of a forum before making a post and I have seen people mentioning higher amounts in other threads. Should I write a disclaimer that it is extremely dangerous to use the amount of drugs that SWIM did and he was only doing at his own risk?

Just to make it clear SWIM isn't addicted to diphenhydramine hydrochloride and he does proper research before using any drug recreationally. He feels he has high tolerance towards drugs in general and I already mentioned that he tried using lower doses to begin with. Only after not experiencing desired effects he tried a higher dose and that was all about Benadryl. He is happy with his stash and will try diphenhydramine only occasionally because he did not like it.

I suggest you read this thread: http://drugs-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=29534

While taking 500mg the next day probably won't be dangerous for you, it will certainly lead to a diminished experience, due to your tolerance. And you don't really want to be messing around with doses all that much higher. If you're going to play with diphenhydramine, space out your trips.

Re: Benadryl (diphenhydramine) Overdose. A Query.

Yeah, I did read that thread and that thread was the reason i made this thread because I was concerned about SWIM. But then the difference is SWILucid_Dreamer took a 500mg dosage on one night, then he took 700mg the next night and another 500mg after some time. That makes it 1700mg in a span of 24 hours. SWIL was bound to end up in a hospital after that. SWIM was thinking about doing 1000 mg with a difference of 24 hours between each intake.

Just to make it clear SWIM told me that he decided against it and waited one more day for another trip and he didn't like it. SWIM thinks diphenhydramine are not worth the effort and time and he'd rather trip on something much better and safer.

Re: Benadryl (diphenhydramine) Overdose. A Query.

Probably a good idea. The truth is, it's hard to say how long it'll last in your system, and at what point the effects are going to be pretty dangerous, so it's best err on the side of caution, SWILucid Dreamer being the perfect example of going to far.
