Just bought a couple San Pedro's yesterday...
And I have a cople questions for you. (Yes, I did my research already)
SWIM finally built up enough courage to ask his mom if he couldbuy a cactus and bought a couple SP's. SWIM looked around for guides about their care, but all SWIM found out is to water them daily and to fertilize them at half strengh once every 2-3 months (right?) I also read that some people put their cacti in their basement during the winter without any light or water at all. But could SWIM possibly try to give it a little sunlight from a window, or is it one of those give all or nothing things? I never read annything about how the size of a catus relates to how big of a pot SWIM should use. I saw some cactuses in a very small pot compared to their size, so I guess that cacti need little room for their roots? Last question (that SWIM can think of): When SWIM is going to prepare the cactus, SWIM is thinking of preparing the cactus in either a candy-type deal, or a tea. For the candie thing, would I need to make the powder extraction, or can SWIM just use the "meat" of the cactus. Swim would rather do the candie Idea because with the tea, you have to let it simmer for quite a while, but with the candie, SWIM can just wait for a few min alone, and quickly cook em. Wait, I thought of anoter question. How long will the cactus tea and candie last? I read a trip report where some guy said he didnt want to let the drink go bad, so he drank it right away. Crap, as SWIM types this, he keeps thinking of more questions. Do you think that it is easy to be on SP in front of other people without giving it away? Cuz since it's long trip (I've heard 8-12 hours) I'd probably wake up still buzzed, so SWIM would like to know if SWIM should wait for a time where no one will be around at all, or if SWIM could even possibly talk to people while on it. Sorry If I missed any "SWIM'S" Swim is new to this.O and sorry for so many questions, Im just excited for m cactus to get here. Thanks in advance! |

Re: Just bought a couple San Pedro's yesterday...
hmm, first you sound suspiciously under 18.
swim thinks simmering is the best way to extract the alkaloids. when swim was younger him and his odd looking punk rock friend boiled up some san pedro in his mothers kitchen. His mother came in half way through the process. swim convinced his mother his friend was a vegan and required this nasty cactus soup for sustenance. after some head shakes and looks of disgust she walked off believing vegans ate nasty thick cactus soup. If swiy takes mescaline he will likely not be able to sleep at all. Swiy will need to consume alot of cactus to get anything above a threshold dose. If swiy takes a threshold dose, being around other people wont be too obvious but if a substantial dose is consumed it will be apparent that swiy is a bit out of sorts. |

Don't drive under the influence of psychedelics. Period.
It is immature and irresponsible to put others at risk by driving impaired. Drugs have a bad enough rep as it is, you don't need to compound the problem by doing something stupid like driving while on Mescaline. |

Re: Just bought a couple San Pedro's yesterday...
I feel compelled to warn SWIY about the sleep issue. There are two things I should bring up. The first is that if SWIY intends to go to bed early enough to wake up with anything more than an afterglow, SWIY will find himself unable to sleep. The other thing is that I have never heard of a mescaline trip lasting only 8 hours. As far as I know, 10-12 is a bare minimum, and only if it happens to be a low dose, but the most likely duration is 12-16 hours.
I could be off on the duration but I know that sleep is difficult or impossible unless it's during the tail end of the trip. I just realized something else. San Pedro is known to have a very unpredictable mescaline content. Considering that the ability to sleep and function in front of parental/authority figures is dependent on how much SWIY takes, there is a potential for massive crapness happenings in the event of an unexpectedly potent cactus. SwiPA's suggestion to SWIY would be to take it within a few hours of waking up and on a weekend where SWIY doesn't have any other commitments. Sleep deprivation compounds the physical and psychological stress involved during the use of a psychedelic and could significantly increase the risk of a bad trip. Also consider that a profound psychedelic experience benefits from having the day after to reflect and come to terms with what one just went through. |

Re: Just bought a couple San Pedro's yesterday...
Ok then thanks for the reply! SWIM will just sit back and wach my babies grow and wait for an upcoming oportunity to try out their powers. SWIM'LL probably just do a low dose, though. And SWIM will do it on a day where he doesn't have to get up or anything. That way if his parents come around he can just pretend to be asleep of just not talk.
