Is there an antagonist for amphetamines?
Like for example naloxon/naltrexon as an antagonist for opioids or flumazenil as an antagonist for benzodiazepines. |

Re: Amphetamine antagonist?
Yes, most anti-psychotics are dopamine antagonist. The newer ones are very selective and useful as an antidote, though their effect is not very pleasant to say the least. Most of the new psychotics are also very selective antagonists for the serotonine receptor on which serotonergic psychedelics act, making them an alround antidote, one of them is Risperidone.

Re: Amphetamine antagonist?
Yes, I think to let an antagonist work on phenethylamines is not like let work an antagonist on heroin or benzos because it heavily affects the dopamine system.
Yeah risperidone is the ultimate antagonist. It acts as strong dopamine blocker and also as a 5HT2A antagonist. So if someone comes with an "overdose" or lets say a bad trip on LSD or other tryptamines, risperidone would be a good choice to stop the effects of the tryptamines and phenethylamines also. If someone has the risperidone depot injection (wich is given quite often to schizophrenics) would tryptamines or phenethylamines show any effects? I read on wikipedia: The use of antipsychotics on people under the influence of LSD is reportedly extremely unpleasant, with some describing it as a "chemical straightjacket". As a result, Valium is often recommended to reduce the anxiety of a bad trip. hmm.....i'm asking me why its unpleasant when you get kicked out of a bad trip. |

Re: Amphetamine antagonist?
The side effects from the anti-psychotics seem to be very unpleasant, though SWIM read an experiment on Erowid somewhere, about a person who took Risperidone in a normal dose(1-4mg) just after taking a psychedelic, and he was back on baseline within 20 minutes, without any side-effects.
Edit:this is the trip report Quote:
And another one Quote:
