L-methamphetamine inhaler
So, swim had a terrible clogged up nose this morning and went to get some benzedrex for it(he figured he'd eat the rod sometime when his nose was unplugged). They didn't have any at the store so he got a vick's vapor inhaler. He's sniffed it quite a bit over the past hour to clear it up, and he's feeling the sensation of having large amounts of noradrenaline in him. A LOT more energy than he had, and something he thinks is unique to him. Whenever he takes NRI's and looks at a computer screen he feels so far away like he's been pulled back or that the screen is tiny. Also happens if he looks at someone long enough. It's happened from tramadol like every time he's taken it, but also strattera, amitriptyline, and sertraline. He's not sure what it's doing to him, but actually it's a bit enjoyable.

Re: Norepinephrine or seratonin levels increased with L-methamphetamine
L-meth cotton rods can be taken the same way as propylhexedrine but it's not as stimulating or euphoric.

Yes I know that, I was just wondering about the central pharmacology of it.

Re: Norepinephrine or seratonin levels increased with L-methamphetamine
There's very little central stimulation. Poor at crossing the blood-brain barrier. But plenty of action peripherally, and we all know about the feedback loop between the body and the brain, yea?
It will reduce fatigue and probably be great at inducing most of the peripheral side effects people try to ignore taking amphetamine drugs -- jitters, rapid heartrate, etc The l isomer of your unmethylated amphetamine is used in our widely popular "Adderall" formula, 25% IIRC to 75% dextroamphetamine. A stupid choice made to get a new patent if you ask me, but it extends the duration -- the half-life of the l isomer is about 3 hours longer. |

Re: Norepinephrine or seratonin levels increased with L-methamphetamine
Nope. An otherwise inactive (or not appropriately active) enantiomer's effects can be qualitatively *modified* when combined with the active enantiomer. More importantly, the inactive enantiomer can have a profound positive effect on the quality of the active one. This is why Shulgin has said racemic MDA/MDMA is much better (in effect) than the pure active stereo isomer, even though the inactive isomer has little, if any effect alone. Also, many say recemic amphetamine has more "fire" than the pure D. Clearly, there is a synergism here which goes beyond simple addition.
