The Future of the USA ...what ever happand to Checks and Balances?

Does the United States have breaking point? One of my close mates and I were having a discussion two night ago about what the hell the Bush's administration is going to do past January 2009. So many of them have violated so many laws that without the protection of the President they can't possibly stay safe from justice. I suppose he could pardon a lot of them, but you can't plead the fifth if you've been pardoned. And it's not exactly like the summons are going away. (that being said he cant pardon himself AND everyone could be forced to testify against him if they are pardoned).
Does anyone think they would try another 2008? They do control the supreme court. Or perhaps could another September 11th style attack occur right before the election? Idk I think it would break me if they tried something like that. By break me I mean I think I would finally invoke my second amendment rights to make sure the government stays bound to the constitution. I've never done anything violent before. But I think after the past 6/7 years I think I'd completely lose it.
So I decided to ask: What do you think will happen in 2008... and what are you prepared to do?

(Post script: Even if there was a coup unless Ron Paul or Mike Gravell was elected it doesn't really make a policy difference, but it's the thought that counts)

Funny you should mention checks & balances.

Ever wonder why the DEA--an enforcement agency--is in charge of scheduling new drugs?

And semantic games like "scheduling is not legislation" are not allowed...

Oh, sorry to wake you up. Go back to sleep Amerika.

A lot of people are thinking the same thing. Apparently there's a general strike scheduled for September 11th 2007, which you could take part in. I'm in Ireland but I'll still be taking the day off, and encouraging others to do so, in protest against the Irish government which continues to wholeheartedly support the Bush / Brown administrations. At the rate that the Western World is losing its freedom, those of us who care about rights and liberty have to do something about it very soon.
