Can't be friends with non-drug users

Hey all,

I have this friend, I will call him SWIM. He is living in a foreign country and trying to make friends... SWIM has successfully made quite a lot of friends - but found they're not on the same level as him regarding drug use. Basically, they do not use recreational drugs - whereas this SWIM guy quite enjoys them occasionally.

SWIM is finding it very difficult to bond with these friends, and feels like he is hinding a part of himself by not telling them - but telling them would be a really bad idea as they're very narrow minded when it comes to drugs. When SWIM finally finds someone he can open up to regarding drug use - and enjoy them with these people, he is much happier.

Does anyone else have experience with this? My friend is feeling kinda dishearted in the whole search for friends and this is a real stumbling block. He knows that if he moved back to his home country, everything would be all good.

Any advice much appreciated.
