Butane Lighter Problem

SYIM recently purchased this lighter:

However, it doesn't light properly every time, maybe only 1 in 5 times sometimes worse, gas is escaping but often there is no flame, is this normal?

Re: Butane Lighter Problem

Yes this happens all the time with torch lighters.

It happens mostly when it's running out of gas. What SWIM does is completely drain it of it's leftover gas, cool it down, and refill it. After letting it warm up, by the second spark it runs very smoothly.

Re: Butane Lighter Problem

It seems best to hold it down halfway for a second to let some gas out and then make it click to get a spark. Also the lighter should be upright when being ignited.

Re: Butane Lighter Problem

lol SWIM has that exact design of lighter, but by a company called t.r.u.e ... they do strange knifes torches lighters, a bit gadgety.....

Does it have a little piece of wire bent up lots just over where the flame should come out?, if it does and this is glowing red then it is actually lit, SWIM found it was often difficult to see its flame.

That design of lighter is actually the most reliable blue flame SWIM has ever had its about 3 years old now, and about 7 other designs have been and broken in the mean time.
Peace
geezaman

The flame on it is almost invisible most of he time SWIM found
