effects/cutting down

swim started taking speed on a regular basis (5-6 times a week) about 12 months ago and has just realised how much she is using. It started as 5g a week but is now an ounce+ a week, swim now relys on it as she has 2 jobs and works allot of hours. Swim is worried about the amount she is using (and the money she is spending!) and is wondering about the long term effects her usage will cause. She also would like advice on cutting down and any other advice anyone has.

Re: effects/cutting down

Taper down, take say half a gram less each week, it'll take a while but it's the most managable way!

And about the intake, your body won't take it for oto long, thing how fast everythings working inside, and how fast your gonna age yourself...

Wow swim's worst binge stages she never used that much. Stopping will be very hard for swiy. Detox or Rehab would be swim's suggestion based on the huge amount swiy is taking. It could be toxic in those amounts. Swim is amazed swiy is still holding down a job. Most hard core tweakers don't. Is this meth?

Re: effects/cutting down

Not meth, pretty decent base tho. SWIM is just about managing to juggle 2 jobs (almost 60 hours) and a limited social life, SWIM can feel herself falling apart physically and mentally though. SWIM has been using for 6 days a week for over a year now and is thinking that her approching week off of both jobs is an ideal time to have a serious detox (after one last complete binge for my 21'st), put things in prespective, then maby she can enjoy the buzz again rather than rely on it.

Re: effects/cutting down

Swim does not want to burst swiy's bubble, but thinks swiy's days of not relying on it are past. Even after detoxing, tolerance is built up so as once swiy uses again it will take no time at all before the same large amounts are needed for a buzz. As far as a week goes for a detox...that'll do for the catchin up on sleep part....but that much meth over that length of time could very well leave swiy with depression or other "brain chemistry" issues. Use what time is left with meth to prepare for detox. Stock up with easy to prepare meals....the healthier the better. lots of water, fruits, vegetables. Swim used, believe it or not...Slim fast....it's got a nice balance of vitamins, minerals, plus has fiber (good stuff in, and gets the bad stuff out) During a time when swiy should be taking optimum care of onesself....swiy is not going to feel like doing anything. There have already been several posts on types of supplements to aid detox and improve health after using meth....so swim wont go into it here...check into it. swim will be curious as to how it goes for swiy.....stay in touch.

Re: effects/cutting down

SWIY will probably be very tired for a long time after quiting, but once SWIY has the energy for it, heavy excercise like running or cycling is very important, it helps restore SWIY brain chemistry, and raise natural dopamine levels, the chemical that is also released by amphetamine.
Healthy living is probably the most important. Take plenty of anti-oxidants, like 1000mg vitamin C daily, and a multivitamine every morning, and eat, sleep and drink plenty.

Well speed is speed. Granted meth has a bad name because of the junk put in it but same effects really. Then the redneck stigma when people from all walks of life use it. Swim has tried all sorts of speed, meth the preferred one. Actually pure speed could be worse as meth is usually cut and not as potent.
At any rate, swiy could abstain but better change friends who use and move or it won't stop, don't kid oneself. Swiy is already indicating the early signs of the bad issues about speed. Same deal with meth really. That is how it starts. Believe swim it will worsen with continued use. Swiy is young but wait till you get to be 44, lots of regrets. Swim says, flush it down the toliet and detox not taper. It will take about 2 weeks to get over the physical stuff, the cravings will always be there. Swiy will need outpatient help to deal with it, if she is serious about stopping. Oh yeah when young swim could hold a job and use, as she got older and more of a speed freak, couldn't do it anymore. Swim put a bullet in her head and survived which was a miracle, swiy doesn't want to end up like that. Also don't think it won't happen to swiy, many speed people are unhappy and want to just die because it will get out of control.

Good advice above, slim fast has lots of vitamins, ensure does too and will help with food cravings. A good multivitamin and B12 will help. Lots of water to flush it out the toxins. Camomile tea is good, very soothing. Do not obsess, stay busy that is very important, cause when bored, well the mind will play with you. Good luck, swim hopes she helped, pm anytime

Nope. Meth penetrates into the brain slightly better than amph due to its better fat solubility. 60mg of meth (pure) make SWIM, who is using meth only twice a year, stay alert for 3 days, allowing for sleep though. amph does not do this to SWIM.

wondering about the long term effects her usage will cause.
short list (from http://www.erowid.org/chemicals/amph...ffects.shtml):
* dry, itchy skin (chronic use)
* acne, sores (chronic use)
* pallor (high dose or chronic use)
* psychotic episodes (rare except in overdoses or after chronic use)

long list:

advice on cutting down
This worked for a few SWIMS:
* only take a fixed dose per hit, reduce this dose every week by some amount.
* take doses at fixed intervals, make those intervals longer every week.
* once SWIY decided what SWIY's desired level of consumption is, SWIY should make a plan for the next weeks that leads to this level, roughly outlining doses/intervals. trying to be realistic, not being disappointed if the plan turns out to be to tough and needs readjustment. if SWIY has someone SWIY can trust, SWIY should ask that person to help/counsel (check with SWIY that SWIY sticks to the plan).
* SWIY should be prepared to face a depression - having someone around (lover/friend/pet) can help.

Re: effects/cutting down

Though we're getting a bit oftopic, methamphetamine and amphetamine are indeed different chemicals, of which meth is much more addictive.
SWIM tried both of them on several occasions, in different purities, from cut to 100% pure, and there is indeed a big difference.
Though pure amphetamine sulphate is very much like meth when used in larger quantities, SWIM could only keep awake and spun for a certain time, untill he just didn't want to continue staying spun because he was to worn out. This wasn't the case with meth.

swim is using half oz of base per week (hopefully not more than that) and swim has only been with the speed since late January 07.. and swim is a young 'ne
tis not good. How did swiy get the motivation or will or whatever to quit?
Swim is in a hole down here, swim doesn't want to live with or without the stuff.. and swim got a fully-fledged benzo habit now too. damn. swim is in self-pity.

Swim wishes swiy the best.
Kick that f**ker before it kicks you all the way down.

Swim is too far gone; swim lacks sufficient hope... maybe one day.

Re: effects/cutting down

self pity is something swim knows all to well. swim has reached the point where it is starting to be impossible to hide just how far gone swim is, swim is falling apart inside and out. swim has reached a point where its either sort swims shit out or give up and seems as swim is an intensly private person and does not voice her troubles to her friends or family this is swims last ditch attempt.
As for holding down 2 jobs, not only is it a distraction from swims troubles, it keeps the money coming in, and in one job they even let swim get off her head as long as swim still works her arse off (easy to do with a 3-4g bomb!) Working allot helps swim though, swim needs to keep busy to distract from everything...
