Re: LSD Side effects with Celexa 30mg

Spare Chaynge has hit the nail right on the head.

SSRI's attenuate the effects of LSD and other drugs (such as MDMA) which work on serotonin. Trip will be reduced, or the monkey may feel nothing at all, or they may end up taking more of said substance hoping to feel an effect: Not so great if what the monkey has isn't acid but a research chemical of some sort

It's really not worth your monkey's mental health to be careless about her depression. She might be fine with LSD, she might not, it's just not really worth the risk.

LSD and Citalopram 25 mg a day.

I know a monkey who has been taking 25 mg a day of Celexa for about three to five weeks. I've read experiences about monkies who are taking Celexa for long periods of time such as more than a month and it turned out that the LSD had very little or no effect on them. I was wondering if anyone knew if the dosage is small and the monkey has only been taking it for three to five weeks if the monkey will still feel the LSD effects greatly enough or if it is a better idea for the monkey to not take Celexa on the day of it's LSD trip.

Re: LSD and Celexa 25 mg a day.

Celexa is Citalopram, an SSRI.

SSRI's have been proven to reduce the effect of LSD in many

See this...

http://www.drugs-forum.com/forum/loc...tid=32&id=1173

which looked at individuals taking an SSRI for 3 weeks

SSRI's have been known to decrease effects slightly, but not to a very large extent. MAOIs seem to have a diminishing effect on the drug as well though its more risky if you are doing other drugs as well. (http://www.erowid.org/chemicals/maois/maois_info4.shtml)

Using anti-depressants such as lithium salts and tricyclics can dissociative fugue or other psychological problems. Its not recommended to do any hallucinogens while on these substances. (http://www.erowid.org/chemicals/lsd/lsd_health3.shtml)

Thorazine is the most commonly used drug to dimish or eliminate LSD's effects. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thorazine)

From the threadstarters post it sounds like SSRIs. Check the links I posted. If the medicine you are thinking of is an SSRI then theres a chance it could do something but I wouldnt bet my sanity on it. If its one of the other kinds I mentioned (besides Thorazine obviously) then stay away.

Antipsychotics ARE commonly used by medics to terminate the effects of LSD (mainly for historical reasons, because LSD was thought to induce a "model psychosis").

However a dose of benzodiazepine is far kinder on the mind/body of someone freaking out on LSD, and has far fewer side effects. She would suggest that if SWIY is ever in the unfortunate position of being with someone in this state then they insist on benzodiazepines being given, rather than a "chemical cosh".

Bongo has seen a person who takes seroquel (prescribed & forced administration) try a large (25mg) dosage of Iprocin. The Iprocin had very little effect. 2 hours into this, he then was given 15mg of Miprocin. Nothing. Mission aborted.
