Inexperience and DMT

Hello, SWIM doesn't have any experience with psychedelics and wants to try dmt for certain reasons. Is dmt similar to lsd or mushrooms? SWIM claims that many say that no amount of lsd or shrooms can prepare you for dmt is this true. Should SWIM start at a low dose a build their way up?
