Question Intense Salvia Divinorum tripping - Would growing my own work? Do I NEED extract?

SWIM wants to start tripping regularly from Salvia. SWIM has never tripped(i.e. gone into Salvia world) off Salvia by itself, though he has felt some of the effects. SWIM has the urge to start growing things these days as he is fond of nature particularly the psychedelic plants. SWIM wonders whether it is worth growing his own Salvia plant.

SWIM has only ever used pure leaf, not extract. SWIM has only ever had a "trippy" (as in would not be able to pass as sane to a normal person because so involved in trip) when he smoked it when on mescaline.

SWIM wonders whether he needs the extract to trip, or whether SWIM can eventually build up this reverse tolerance with his own leaf that he grows. SWIMs heard good things about growing, that the plant takes on the person's personality, well whatever, SWIM wants some first hand experience so he can know(as in knowing experience-wise rather then in a intellectual fact-based way).

I hear Salvia is easy to grow, is it jut like having a house plant in my room? No special equipment .etc, just pot, soil, fertiliser, fungiside, water?

Has anyone got their own plant and smoke the leafs and experience intense effects?

Looking for experienced Salvia users opinions.

Cheers

Salvia is indeed that easy to grow, and also doesn't have any noticeable smell. But, to trip really intensely, you do need extract. However, Salvinorin A isn't exactly the hardest thing in the world to extract.

Yeah very easy to grow, and take cuttings (clones).
swim would not recommend extracting salvinorin a (The active ingredient, not the forum user) as its a extremely potent if swiy has not done it before (how does swiy know she wont scare him off)
swim has had very strong effect from standard leaf (Homegrown), but did not chat with pixies or anything.
Making enhanced leaf is so easy swim's great nan can do it.
Orbed says:
"The following is as simple as it gets to make a gram of 5X enhanced leaf.

1. Pour Acetone into a container of 6 grams of leaf and stir for ten minutes

2. Pour Acetone off of the extracted leaf onto one gram of unextracted leaf and evaporate all Acetone while leaf is present in it.

Wha-la! Enhanced leaf."
This makes 5X not 6x as you won't get it all out in this quick method

Maybe, maybe not. Some do, but my cat can trip quite easily from the plain leaf. My roommates cat is far more sensitive than mine.

My and my roommates cats grew their own plant at one time, it had issues and died unfortumately, but the leaves from that plant were easily 3 times as potent as any of the regular leaf they bought online.

Ah yes, you're right. I suppose it does depend on the person, if you happen to be (un?)lucky enough to be sensitive to dissociatives need not invest in extract, but for the really intense trips, I think at least some basic extract is nessecary - even if is just the 5x extract.

A salvia plant is happy under natural or artifical light. You need not invest in expensive equipment either: basic fluorecsent lights will do. Hang them about thirty centimetres above the plant and make sure it gets at least 12-17 hours of light for every 24 hours.

Re: Intense Salvia tripping - Would growing my own work? Do I NEED extract?

I have the sneaking suspicion (born up by no data at all, just a hunch) that the scale of hard to soft head is a bell curve. Where at the hard head end you have people who can do a gram of pure Sal A and experinence nothing (Siebert mentions one of them in some writing or other of his) and at the other end of the curve people like that lady who did the full bowl of regular leaf on her first try, dropped the pipe screamed for 3 minutes and remembered nothing. Yes, a full on lvl 6 trip with one bowl of plain leaf. I have laso heard tell (but never met any of these people (it was mentioned in passing)) of people who can go to full level 5 with a wiff of the burning (regular) leaf. My cat would like to comment that she would hate to be that soft headed.

Will a Salvia plant be OK inside all the time in SWIMs room(room-plant)? Being a bedroom, there will be no direct sunlight.

But cat's are clever, surely your cat would prefer to do less for the same effect??
or would it be embarrassed about being light weight?

While, in theory, the idea of being that softheaded might be invinting (honestly, an ounce of plain leaf would last for decades), the dosaging might be difficult.
