The Patriot Act...Or something else?
I was in the middle of responding to one of Bajeda's long ass posts, and I had a question. I am sure that you guys have an opinion on this, and I'm interested to see what it is.
Everyone here believes that the Patriot Act is unjust and the work of the “debil,” right? Well, here is kind of how I see it. We are playing ball with a whole different set of rules, and in a whole different league. In the new game there are people who use God to justify their mass casualties, and they do stuff like fly air planes into skyscrapers.
The United States obviously couldn’t just not take any type of action, and under the post 9/11 laws we were left in a legal quagmire where we could not aggressively pursue the terrorists.
My question is this: If not The Patriot Act, then what? And when you answer the question you have to include some type of answer that includes something that would help us to aggressively pursue those who would, and have harmed us.
And I can tell you what my defenses to The Patriot Act will be before this even gets started. 1. Since The Patriot Act has been enacted, and the United States has began a campaign of aggressively pursuing terrorists there has been no attacks in the United States. 2. I value my privacy just as much as the next guy. If I have to give up knowing that no one else will read my emails but my intended recipient then I am fine with that. I am fine with giving up a certain degree of my privacy knowing that I am possibly helping to save lives. Am I sure that the degradation of my privacy is actually saving lives? Not at all. But I do know that there haven’t been any terrorist attacks lately. 3. I am a law abiding citizen. I have nothing to hide.
This isnt exactly all about drugs, but as I've heard time and time again drug users dislike The Patriot Act.
On a side note...Bajeda its not that I dont like answering you posts, its just that they require some actual thought. And man, they're long. lol
