Time it takes for physical dependence on oxys to develop…
SWIM knows there is prob no set rule here and everyone may be different, but it is said if you take Benzos for 14 days, even if it is the same dosage you can develop a physical dependence on the drug, do opiates generally take more or less time to develop a physical dependence on. SWIM is a bit worried, as he has been taking around 10-15MG of oxy for the past 8 days (with one day off), and he wonders if he will have some WD symptoms. It does not seem like SWIMs tolerance has gone up too much, which I guess is a good sign, he still feels good off of 10MG and 20MG is almost too much to take at one time for him.

Re: Time it takes for physical dependence on oxys to develop…
After eight days of straight usage, one might feel some slight withdrawals... But it seems that you have been keeping your usage to once a day, and a small dosage at that, so I would say that you will be alright. I'd say that if one were to take any opiate for a few weeks, multiple times a day, then some noticeable withdrawals would begin to emerge.
Before swim ever learned what a withdrawal truly felt like, he would go on similar streaks of using for a week straight and feel no sign of dopesickness, but I suppose it is different for everybody. |

Re: Time it takes for physical dependence on oxys to develop…
Yeah during the week SWIM has been taking one dose, when he comes home from work, on the weekend it was two. On his off day he felt fine, and he felt ok during the day at work, so he is assuming he should be fine, maybe just a little anxious, but SWIM has a few 5mg Valiums if it gets too bad.

Re: Time it takes for physical dependence on oxys to develop…
Well, SWIM's case is thus:
Given Fentanyl (unknown amt) pre-op...verrry nice! ![]() More or less continuous Morphine/Demerol for 48 hrs. in hosp. Percocets (believe oxycodone/acetominophen) of around 25mg/day for 12 days; last two days involved 20mg doses (didn't know CWE then and didn't want to push it) used for peasure, not pain releif. Other than anesthesia, no other drugs, and SWIM was off of all drugs for at least 2 mo. prior. Zero W/D noticed upon discontinuation. (When SWIM was a young lad, he was told that pain relief "uses up" the opiate and makes it less addictive, but that sounds like so much B.S.) |

Re: Time it takes for physical dependence on oxys to develop…
Good to know, SWIM is well aware of the risks and does not want to push it, he just got two 80's last weekend and has been enjoying himself. But is now not going to do it for a while. I guess if you look at it from the point that two 80's lasted SWIM 8 days, it does not seem like he should have an issue discontinuing. If anything there may be some mental craving, but that is nothing willpower cant beat, at least for SWIM.

Re: Time it takes for physical dependence on oxys to develop…
The thing is that while physical dependence and psychological addiction the two aren't entirely seperable when you're talking about recreational drug use. You don't have to get physical withdrawls in order to develop a problem with OC, and likewise you can get withdrawls from taking painkillers medically without having any problem stopping. Don't get SWIM wrong, it sounds like you're doing fine. Just be careful about using withdrawl as the sole indication of developing a drug problem, because you can get pretty deep before realizing you have an opiate problem.
