Re: Can't focus
thats a pretty general question as that many drugs stimulate in many different ways - if swiy's looking for something that'll help swiy focus however like the title of this thread would suggest, (as a suggestion) maybe swiy should try getting d-amphetamine as this works very nicely to help the majority of people who use it focus- it also happens to be a stimulant. All stimulants should help focus however and none will work for everyone, to name a few more popular ones : ritalin(methylphenidate), cocaine, desoxyn(methamphetamine), adderall(d+l amphetamine) and dexadrine(d-amphetamine) -- I'm sure if swiy tries all of those at least one will get swiy down to work?

Re: Can't focus
I would tend to disagree here, as cynic said, energy does not necessarily equal focus. Some of the more edgier stimulants (coke, meth) make it difficult for SWIM to focus. This may be due to the fact that he never tries this for focus tho and only had tried recreationally (i.e. a higher dose). So it may be a matter of finding the correct dose along with the correct drug. I could see maybe 25-40 mg of high quality coke giving more focus without the edge, but once you pass the 100mg mark I would think this is too much for the purpose of simply being focused. Caffeine can be similar as well as probably all stimulants. For SWIM, 30mg XR adderall is a good focus drug and he often only takes half of it. In addition he has found that tramadol (ultram) is a surprisingly good study drug. It keeps him stimulated without being overpowering (again, with the right dosage), but this only came after several uses as in the beginning of his use one 50mg dose would probably be too much for mere focus. SWIM has found that ritalin is not good for him at any dose. At low doses he doesn't feel anything, and when he ups the dose and gets an effect, it was always an irritable one. Good luck!

Re: Can't focus
Small dose of propylhexadrine(Benzedrex) got a ton of notes out of some really boring videos I had to watch for class. It was half an inhaler so I would say around 125 mg+/-. Also helps quite well for discussion, his prof was so happy with the paralells he was drawing with the discussion and current situations. PPX just seems to make things click well. He's tried adderall a few times, which clearly is also very good. PPX however, is much easier to obtain and completely legal in the US.

Re: Can't focus
Swim says that for him, methylphenidate works best for the purpose of increasing his focus compared to other stimulants. Others such as cocaine, and various amphetamines give him lots of energy, but that energy sometimes makes him want to go off at a tangent and get to other, better things. Yet again, smaller doses would can more easily keep him on track.

Re: Can't focus
^^ true, my bad on the generalization-- I'd meant more along the lines that the major dopamine releasing stimulants without any psychedelic properties should work for some people in the right situation.. but none work for everyone
meth is actually a treatment for ADD btw (read:desoxyn), its all on dose for that one- I'd imagine cocaine would work well also as swim found it very relaxing and easy to focus on things at lower doses (~50mgs) like you were hypothesizing

Re: Can't focus
Swim has found that, like trptamene suggested, the time release (XR) Adderall is wonderful for focusing (studying or the like) and is not too "edgy." Swim highly suggests it in a 15mg to 25mg range.

Re: Can't focus
SWIM's preferred focusing agent by far would have to be Adderall XR. He's done all the others like IR adderall and methlphenidate but thinks the XRs work best. Crushing the beads makes for more of a speed than focused feeling so avoid doing. Nothing like being able to finish all your work for the week and sit around for a couple days :P

Re: Can't focus and needs Stimulant Drugs
You probably don't want the most stimulating drug for help with concentration. While you might find that a stimulating drug like methylphenidate (Ritalin) helps you concentrate, it's likely that a more stimulating drug like methamphetamine might not be the best option. It all depends on what you're trying to concentrate for, and your experience with stimulant drugs, I guess, but I would hardly recommend some methamphetamine for the next time you need to study for an exam.

Re: Can't focus and needs Stimulant Drugs
^^ I've actually heard methamphetamine for focus works much better than methylphenidate in may cases. From anecdotal reports I've heard, the amount of stimulation in a dose needed to focus is much less intense than in methylphenidate and d-amphetamine for whatever reason (likely due to it's action on serotonin). That being said, I suppose this would make methamphetamine "less stimulating" when considering a dose for focus, so your original comment is correct- just not necessarily the example

Re: Can't focus and needs Stimulant Drugs
SWIM is with with SWI Ironmics. Unless SWIY's has insurance and/or planning on long term use, PPX is a good choice. Plus SWIM finds, unlike most legal alternatives, PPX aids quite a bit in creativity. Most of the legals give a nice iron clad focus but very much lack in anything oriented towards novel thinking. ie. if SWIY wants to plug and chug on algebra, dig a ditch or cram for a test, all night long then go legit, Adderal, Ritalin.... If SWIY wants to construct a proof, paint or write do PPX. SWIM (160lbs: hardhead) finds one cotton HCL extracted and split between two doses two hours apart is perfect for five hours or so of perfect flow. Be prepared though to wrap things up...eat a meal and deal with the come down. Not severe but not conductive to further work. Know when to call it a night. Always allow yourself to reload. There are no unnatural ups without a natural down and your body needs a natural down if you want another unnatural up. BALANCE.
