Hey there,

Im new to this forum, and after reading a lot of these posts, I find
that everybody is very helpful, so I am hoping you guys can help me on
my question. My uncle has been a heroin addict for 5 years now, and he
is trying hard to get off this stuff. He tells me, that when he tries
to discontinue heroin, he cannot sleep and he has total insomnia. I
believe this is due to the heroin/alcohol depressant acting on behalf?
I am planning to suggest to him that he smoke Cannabis to counter-act
the terrible insomnia experienced on behalf on the withdrawal symptoms
of heron. As far as I know, Cannabis helps people get sedated when they
have trouble sleeping at night. If you don't agree that Cannabis is the
job for this, what will help him counter-act the terrible insomnia
experienced by heroin withdrawal symptoms?

Thanks for your help all, I really want to help my uncle

Dexter

i think you may be on to something. cannabis, no doubt, will help with the withdrawl effects involved with heroin. as to whether or not it will help him sleep, i'm not so sure. it depends on how he reacts to the stuff. some people (namely me) experience extremely increased heart rate and get very... "awake". i simply cannot sleep after i smoke it. i think however it is the opposite for most people, who tend to say that cannabis makes them fairly drowsy.

i would say that he should try it for sure. hopefully it will work. if not, try sleeping pills.

A good idea. I smoke when insomnia plagues me. But, like serotonin says, it could be just the opposite effect. Have him try it and see. Xanax is good for this also, relaxing, calming, but also very addictive.

Cannabisrarely helps you during physical withdrawal, if the habit is strong. It makes you more sensitive andsome people have told me that it makes you feel the withdrawal stronger. It might help against the boredom and depression that sets in after the withdrawal period.

I heard that large doses of vitamin C will make the withdrawal process go faster, without becoming more uncomfortable.

Some also claim to have used Kratom with success for combating withdrawal.

You should choose an indica cannabis Because the dosage THC / Cannabinol is equivalent and favor the sleep (stone)whereas sativa has a rate of thc superior to the cannabinol and favor the excitement (high)

sorry for my english i'm french
