Difference from tryptamines and phenethylamines Research Chemicals?

SWIM would like somone to tell him what the pharmalogical differences in these to different drug types are, and also possibly how they may feel differnt when on them?

What makes one a Trypt and another a phen?

Witch is more Euphoric?

If somone really enjoys drugs like meth/coke would phens may or may not produce me euphoria (SWIM has only done tryp pychedics, and has mabye 1 euphoric trip in his life out of about 50)

Anyone got info? thanks, sorry if this has been asked, didnt see a post.

Re: Difference from tryptamines and phenethylamines RC's?

My pet cat finds trypts. to be MUCH more introspective (is this a word)...
Trypts to me make me analyze myself internally using thought and third person perspective

Where as Pea's tend to be more about understanding the cosmos OUTSIDE of us and also appreciating our surroundings...

Each trip is unique though..............

You need a rough course in organic chemistry to understand what makes a tryptamine such, and a phenethylamine so.

Re: Difference from tryptamines and phenethylamines RC's?

I am not an expert chemist like Nagognog but I will attempt to impart my understanding of the field to you as best as I can in a nutshell...

Phenethylamine is an aromatic amine structure with a stable phenyl ring other atoms can be bound to... it is related to the neurotransmitter dopamine (3,4-dihydroxy-phenethylamine). It provides a framework for a family of selective seratonin and dopamine reactor agonists: The phenethylamines.

Tryptamine is a monoamine alkaloid structure with a stable double-ring called the indole ring... it is related directly to the neurotransmitter seratonin (5-hydroxy-tryptamine). The indole ring also provides a framework for attachment and modification of the molecule, creating a second family of psychedelics which are the tryptamines.

However, unfortunately each psychoactive molecule acts as its own substance with its own range of effects. There are similarities between phenethylamine psychedelics, but there are also many differences. So it is difficult to say what the overall character of one of these families might be, or what might be expected by exploring the family as a whole. Sometimes a particular phenethylamine might have more in common with most tryptamines than with its actual chemical relatives. And even if a general character might be applied to a family (like that the tryptamines are a more "serious" and "introspective" feeling class of psychedelics), a whole range of subjective effects might occur... there's no reason a person exploring a particular tryptamine-based chemical might not have a calm, social, and euphoric experience rather than an intensely self-reflective one. It's hard to make a definite rule for what's to be expected from a phenethylamine vs. a tryptamine when these families of chemicals are so very diverse.

So SWIM would say, it's good to know the basic chemistry of what we may choose to put in our bodies... but each individual tryptamine or phenethylamine-based chemical needs to be evaluated objectively, based on the possible benefits and possible risks.
