My Kratom plants (not kratom)

Alright in my country, where it is completely legal, i have now two kratom babies. One has reached height of about 15cm and is doing very well. The other i kinda of stumbled upon it one day and the pot turned over, with half the inside thrown out! Well, i fixed it and it is now about 4cm high.

My problem is, that in my 15cm kratom baby, which now has about 8 leaves, 2 or 3 of them have holes in them! I really wonder if its some god damn insect that made them, or if the leaves grew that way by themselves. Any ideas????

Also, i would like some info on WHEN is the proper time to gather leaves from a kratom plant for using them accordingly..

..and do i just dry the leaves simply by leting them dry on a plate?

Any help appreciated

As kratom is illegal in parts of the world, we ask that you please respect the self-incrimination rules. Let's see some pics!

Re: My Kratom plants

I beg your pardon for misinterpreting the tone of your post. I'm not ignoring your questions, I don't have any helpful answers. AFAIK the plants will have to be a lot bigger than 15cm before starting to harvest them. SWIMs plant is about 4 feet tall and has not been harvested. I think it's a safe guess that the holes resulted from an insect's snacking.

There is a reason why newbies cannot edit posts, however I don't know what it is. It can be found by looking through the "Rules, news, and site use" forum.

So its a matter of height, not of length of plant's life....?

Re: My Kratom plants

So how can these insects be painfully murdered, for daring to hurt my babies??

The only way i can think of is by bringing the plants inside, thus preventing any worthless insect life from reaching them, BUT then i will be keeping the plants away from the conditions that seem to be so beneficial to them, for the conditions of a room...

Of course using any chemicals on them is out of the question..

get him to work out what insects are eating the plant. Then get some of whatever it is that eats those.hopefully they wont eat his plant.
or if he looks up organic pest control, i think he can make a soap solution or pepper spray.

Re: My Kratom plants

Alrightie here is the image i was sent remotely by my friend the Visitor from his spaceship. He keeps these two kratom plants i have been talking about somewhere on this planet, i think, maybe in a specially formed place upon his spaceship which may be in orbit or travelling to somewhere as we speak. Can you see the terrible holes that exist upon some leaves?

Which heartless insect could have made them? Damn worthless lifeforms, i will request a planetary extermination by my powerfull friend some day, and that is not going to be pretty..

But, there is always the possibility that the leaves grew that way themselves because of the hot weather? We re talking about temperatures of 17-39 degrees C, and a couple of hours of direct sunlight per day for the last month or two, could the sun like literally 'melted' these leaves as they appear in the pic? What do you think??

Re: My Kratom plants

Those are insect-made holes. Some grub or caterpillar loves (edit!) that plant. Heat makes leaves wither and go brown.

Yes, i have seen pictures of kratom that is quite tall and the leaves look like that one, but as i said, its only about a month and a half this plant in the pic is alive. So, i thought the leaves do change in shape and size by time, no?

When someone grows kratom from seeds, which were bought not cheap, from somewhere that specifically claims they sell REAL kratom seeds and not something else, than i d like to thing that is what they re selling... do you think i ve been played?!

Hmm, i dont know man, if thats what the seeds look like, then they were the correct ones, 100%...

Other than that, all i can think of is that the looks of the plant may differ from growing in different climates, indoors or outdoors.. if i m not mistaken all these photos are taken of plants growing indoors, correct? The one in the pic i gave is not..

Re: My Kratom plants

i dont know where the seedlings above are grown (not my pics), but MIF's kratom lives outdoors.

IMO there is no way that plant is kratom. the leaf shape and color is wrong, the vein structure of the leaves is wrong, the stem and trunk are white (unlike kratom), etc, etc... basically, there is not one feature of that plant that looks even remotely like kratom to me. i dont think the difference in climate between indoors and outdoors could make that drastic of a difference in appearance.

hmm....those seed pictures you posted look kind of like the fake kratom ("mellow gold" aka Mitragyna Parvifolia) seeds shown here: http://www.erowid.org/plants/show_im...old_seeds1.jpg

anyways just my opinion....

you know, they are calling it embarassing because you bitched about being asked to use SWIM. and I can see your point, after all, marijuana is legal in some cybergardens too. but at the same time, your hosts asked you to swim and so it is good to swim before bitching. Why do we swim? your question IS valid. we use SWIM to avoid letting the new swimmers see us speaking in the first person. If they see that language being used, especially if it is one of the first threads they see here, it may cling to them as they swim in other threads or as they speak of areas in the world where it is not legal. and some of us think that may be unsafe. so all of us support the policy of swimming in order to keep the waters as safe as possible for everyone.

as for the plant, we have a few thoughts.

First off, The Visitor will probably find his Visitor under one of those leaves. Probably a small green tubular one. I did/do love the theory of the sun melting the leaves though. please extend my compliments to The Visitor for his sharing of such a methodical and space like theory.

We agree with The Visitor's opinion when he stated that the plant looks like a pigweed. If it is, then it should flower sometime soon, and that way The Visitor will know for sure that it is not Kratom. at least we think so, because Kratom does not flower this early? and probably it's flowers are different than the pigweed? the pigweed will develop a bud at the top that is made from many small green balls and the bud cluster will be in a small christmas tree shape or sometimes it can elongate and look more like a column of little brussel sprouts on small stems. The coloring of that bud site on the pigweed is the same color of that area on The Visitor's plant.

If it is a pigweed, it is the biggest and SLOWEST GROWING pigweed we have ever seen. on the other hand, it seems like an awfully fast growing tree << faster than any type we have ever seen written up. and it is our understanding that kratom is a slowish growing tree? The veining and leaf edges shown The Visitor's pic are different than the pigweed we have seen in northern california. but the little weed growing next to it is the same weed type that grows with the pigweed here. and also the stature and attitude of the smaller seedling as it grows next to the bigger one is identical to the way we have seen pigweed grow.

The veining and leaf edges we see in The Visitor's picture are very different than the pix we see of the kratom in a superficial web search. But also we see some similarities. Those similarities seem more significant when we take into consideration the variations we see in the published kratom pix. We mean this >> the pix of kratom we have seen differ a lot. Some have serrated edges; some do not. Some have white veins, some have red, some have green. The veining pattern also varies. The Visitor's veins and edges vary significantly more; but to us it seems that they vary in such a way as to not exclude the possibilty of evolution and strain variation.

here is an idea for future grows >> use a soil that is sure to have no weed seeds in it when germinating an unknown species.

and also if The Visitor intends on trying any more of the seeds he bought, then he may wait on pulling the ones he has going now; unless they flower.
