Drug info - Hydroxyzine

I have a bottle of Hydroxyzine. I've never heard of this and I think it
might be a type of sedative. What is it? What does it do?...and can you
get fucked up on it?

Hydroxyzine is just an antihistamine with sedative side effects. It's not recreational unless you have an affinity for sleep.

I was just trying to do some research on Vistaril(Hrydroxine Pamoate) 25mg capsules. I had heard reports that some people have used these recreationally but I can't find any info online. Does anyone have any info about their recreational use such as methods of administration, dangers or dosages? Theoretically, if they could be used recreationally, could they be insuffulated?

The recommended dosage for its anti-anxiety use is between 50-100mg split up daily. The toxicity is 950mg/kg. It is water soluble at around 700mg/ml so insufflation would work i believe. Just be careful while taking any other narcotics or barbituates as the effects of vistaril are greatly potentiated by these. i would avoid drinking any significant amount of alcohol or taking any other kind of CNS depressant while on this. This drug is rapidly absorbed through the gastrointestinal tract so it would prolly be better just to pop it. Good luck. let us know what you think if you do try it.

Hydroxzine is really nifty, because it's an antihistamine yet a powerful anxiolytic. SWIM has tried them several times. One experience gave me the best sleep of my life. They are just plain relaxing. Actually, sedating is a better word. Totally different, though, then diphenhydramine or doxylamine.

Anti-histamine and anti-anxiety at higher doses. Potentiates drugs metabolized by liver enzyme CYP2D6, (benzodiazepines, opiates, and others.) SWIM does not know the proper dose for potentiation, believes it is rather high though.

Ahh one of these kind of threads.These go up with the snorting trazadone,snorting seroquel,snorting valerian type threads.A quick google search could show someone that this is a drug with little to no recreational value no matter how it is ingested.A longtime ago when swim was young and naive a friend of his gave him a bottle of Atarax(hydroxyzine syrup).Other than feeling a little drowsy he felt nothing from it.This is an antihistamine.It is said to have very mild anxiolytic properties and from swims experience these are very mild indeed.It could indeed potentate opiates swim has read but that is a different story.Quit searching the medicine cabinet for random things to get high on!

SWIM does not care for its lack of recreational value and did not plan to snort it. SWIM would just like to know if it would make the onset faster, or if it is unhealthy to snort.

Why would swiy want to make the onset faster or think about snorting it if they weren't after anything but recreational effects?Swim doesn't get that.Afterall the best way to get the therapeutic and intended effect of a large majority of drugs is to take them as directed.

SWIM said he did not plan to snort it. SWIM would just like to know for the sake of knowing.

My nine month old takes the syrup and has been for many months. I'd be concerned if it were strong enough for recreational use. It won't do anything but one tired.

Even things that are strong enough for recreational use can be perfectly safe if taken as reccomended.Swim doubts that the subject of snorting hydorxyzine is well known because of the simple fact no one would try to snort it as it has very little recreational value.

swim discovered that atarax is a prescription drug (hydroxyzine) used as an antihistamine and is also used for anxiety. It is not considered a benzo, however, like most anxiety pills are for. Could swim use atarax to achieve desirable effects??

swim has used benadryl twice and has discovered that it'd be a lot funner if not for the lethargic craziness and the "so tired i can't even think straight" feelings. So swim probably won't use benadryl again

When SWIM was in Thailand he bought some ATARAX there for his flight back( SWIM doesn't like flying ) He took 200mg over a 2 hour period 4x50mg with some wine. SWIM felt like he was flying in the plane and enjoid the feeling.

SWIM doesn't advice to take more then SWIY doctor tells him to. But this was SWIM's experiance. He still got some left and sometimes takes 50mg with some alcohol to help him sleep.

Hydroxyzine (Atarax) is well known for giving a sleepy effect

One may enjoy that, but others might not.

I take 50mg 3x daily for anxiety. I usually take 150mg once a day when feeling panicky. You don't get "fucked up" on it. At least I don't. I'm sure if I took enough it might make me sleepy, but it doesn't even do that as of now.

swim has tryed hydroxyzine his grandmother gave him an entire bottle to help him sleep.. they definatelly do that swim slept amazinglly well, the also seemed to lessen his anxiety, potentiated marijuana and opiates, and were just plain good for any sedative cocktail of swims choosing note swim was using a lot more than the standard 25 mg though

Well, Swim has read that in hydroxyzine overdose it does cause delirium. Does this mean it could have recreational deleriant effects?
