dexedrine and melatonin for dreaming
Has anyone ever taken melatonin on a regular basis with dexedrine, and had anything interesting come of it (especially dream-related, but not exclusively)? SWIM is very interested about the combination of these two, and is much a drug noob.

Re: dexedrine and melatonin for dreaming
My monkey has enough sleeping problems that if he took dexedrine anywhere close to bedtime he wouldn't be able to sleep for hours, even with melatonin.
Melatonin on its own will produce dreams of a very bizarre nature (this has been documented). My monkey has had very freaky yet realistic and vivid dreams with melatonin of varying doses before. The higher the dose the more chance for insane dreaming it seems. Not sure if the combination would do anything to enhance the dream inciting capabilities of Melatonin. |

Re: dexedrine and melatonin for dreaming
Whenever swim takes melatonin he almost always has nightmares.Does anyone know the reason for this? Why is melatonin so apt to cause bizzare and sometimes very frightening dreams?

Re: dexedrine and melatonin for dreaming
It seems it just makes dreams more vivid. I get sex dreams if I have a good day, I might get nightmares if I watch some crazy horror movie. Orchid, try watching something happy on tv before melatonin.(something like that)

Quote:
Swim had a dream just the other night while sleeping with a melatonin boost where a bunch of crazy things happened (always a huge expansive environment with changing scenes, as opposed to the more confined settings of his normal dreams) and ended with him getting shot by some psychotic killer which instantly caused swim to bolt upright in bed. He then proceeded to slap himself once or twice and put his head back down to sleep, whereupon he started dreaming right away (or so it felt) though thankfully it was a 'cutely' bizarre dream and not a psychotic feeling one. Its strange though, as swim finds he doesnt really get scared much at all when he gets what he would normally consider to be a nightmare with melatonin. It almost reminds him of some of his DXM trips, where he would see some of the most insanely freaky and scary stuff yet his heart wouldn't skip a beat. |

Re: dexedrine and melatonin for dreaming
SWIM shall try it the next time he sleeps - Rx d-amphetamine and melatonin. He will definitely report the results.
Anyway, what about something such as xanax and melatonin? SWIM doesn't imagine a mg or two would be suppressant enough to stamp out a melatonin boosted dream-state. Oxycodone + melatonin? Depressants usually help SWIM sleep soundly, he is wondering what swiy thinks that could do, as SWIM is not familiar with melatonin at ALL. |

Re: dexedrine and melatonin for dreaming
Since several weeks I'm prescribed dexedrine, as well as melatonine to help me sleep. Due to my ADD, my melatonine levels are incorrect, that's why I'm always wake at night, and tired in the morning, so that's why my docter also prescribed 5mg tablets of melatonine.
If I take them 2,5/3 hours before I plan to go to bed, and I go to bed 2,5/ 3 hours later, I inmediately dose of to sleep, for a good nights sleep. In the beginning I also had a lot of lucid dreaming, though that seems to have passes by now, a month later after starting on it. Very weird though, SWIM was prescribed temazepam in the beginning, but even at higher doses it worked less well than melatonine. Not even strong benzodiazepines knocked SWIM out when he started on dexedrine, but melatonine strangely did put him to sleep. |

Re: dexedrine and melatonin for dreaming
Lucid dreaming, or vivid dreaming?
SWIM has found many things over the years which often enhanced his ability to have a vivid dream, but SWIM never found anything to enhance his ability to have lucid dreams. After about 20 years of lucid dreaming, SWIM finally realized that the things he had found to help him sleep would more often than not interfere with SWIM's lucid dream potentials. |

Re: dexedrine and melatonin for dreaming
Sorry, vivid dreaming. Though at times it was somewhat lucid as well. On few occasions SWIM had the feeling he knew he was dreaming, and when he woke up in the morning, he had the feeling the dream ended at the exact moment he woke up, feeling like he was half awake and half dreaming.
