Importing Mushrooms by Post to Ireland?

SWIM recently discovered the site of a mushroom supplier in the Netherlands which ships internationally and "doesn't have the time to check the legal status of shrooms in every country" and thus will ship to Ireland, where they have been illegal since last year.

Now SWIM knows another guy online who got shrooms shipped to him from the place twice with no problem(he used his home address but a fake name), but SWIM would like to get a little more insight into the actual Garda policy on checking international packages for drugs and how much they actually care about importing shrooms. In short, how safe would SWIM be to buy from these guys and import them?

Yeah, SWIM's aware of that, SWIM's initial reaction was that it'd be no bother, that the Gardaí wouldn't even care if they knew, but SWIM has to keep reminding himself that despite being legal a year ago, they're viewed in the same light(legally) as Cocaine or Heroin these days....

SWIM'll prob just play it "safe" and pick them himself in a month or two.

I put "safe" in quotes since SWIM has never picked mushrooms before, has no experience and could possibly pick poisonous ones....

SWIY (I hate all this SWIM?SWIY stuff, SWIM never knows if SWIM is using it right) should know that the season has come early this year in a lot of horse racing courses (you know the ones?), so there is no reason to wait a couple of months.

Yeah, hopefully he'll find someone older and more experienced to assist him.

That is, unless he can find a way to get the shrooms delivered to an anonymous address.

SWIM's brother has informed SWIM that a friend of his works in An Post and that if you import something with the lowest priced shipping (i.e. non-registered, slow), its contents are rarely checked or scanned.

SWIY should be careful, however.

Yes, growing psilocybe cubensis is quite easy. AFAOF tried a injectable growkit and got a kilo out of it. The process was pretty simple. He injected the kit with a spore syringe. Waited until the mycelium had spread trough the bag. Then opened the kit and mushrooms popped up. That was all.

Both such kits and syringes are legal in Ire. It is illegal to use them together to grow psilocybe mushrooms.

hmm... and SWIM was thinking it'd be difficult and involve some sort of horticultural knowledge....

How long do they take to grow?

If swiy means the injectable grow bags, about 6 weeks in all..4 for colonization and 2 for fruiting.
There's a lot of factors to consider..temperature, light (e.g dark for the first phase and light for the second), humidity, etc.

It's not hard, but well worth reading up on.

The kit AFOAF got had instructions, which where easy to follow. It took 3.5 weeks for colonisation and 3.5 weeks for fruiting. So a total of 7 weeks. I'll ask if I can get pics.
