not true.

Beverage companies would certainly put up a fight.
Too much revenue generated from that age group to
risk losing.

I'ld be more concerned wth beverage tax, the way
tobacco is taxed.

raising the drinking age does nothing but make things worse, the only to way to solve america's problem with alcohol, is to change america's look at alchol in general and they already ruined it by raising the drinking age to 21

Curtains, you say America's look at alcohol is already ruined because they raised the drinking age to 21?

I'm not sure if thats a real cause for it, age limit is 18 here in the UK, and, to be fair, we ARE a nation of alcoholics.

Not sure what the European age limits are, but everyone there seems to
have a much more sensible approach to alcohol. The UK view is
BANG 10 PINTS DOWN AS QUICK AS YOU CAN, OLD CHUM

Yeah, but wouldn't the country be crazy if there was no age limit for things. Imagine, a 10 year old smoking a cigar....Or an 8 year old drinking vodka. Now, would that be a country you would want to live in???

i wouldn't be surprised if they tried but then it would just be circulated even more...
alcohol making companies would definately not let this go without some sort of fight

Man, the Bush administration is not as conservative as bad as it is greedy. The beverage companies will put up such a fight...Bush isnt waitin on it.
Years ago there was this idea that one would like to light a fire bomb on board of an airplane(Terroralert!!!!). Thats why u could only take about 6 books of matches and 6 lighters with u on board.
Tell me that Bush really is stupid enough 2 think u need 7 lighters and 7 books of matches to light a firebomb. No, in fact, hes not that stupid. But hey, Philip Morris is an old family friend. So are Budweiser and Jack Daniels.

Exactly think about how much money people under 25 spend on booze every night at clubs, in bars, and the local liquor store. The government is concerned for your health but not at a sufficient amount they want to kill the young collegiate age market for alcohol.

That would really be terrible. My little brother is only 17 and is facing jail
time due to his recently acquired MIP. I also have a 20 year old friend with
his sixth MIP and he got all six after he graduated high school only a year
and a half ago. Whatever happened to the days where a senior in high
school could go to lunch and get a beer after a stressful morning.

Keep the drinking age at 21, US culture is too overly fixated with alcohol as it is. Let's not forget that alcohol is just as destructive, if not more, than many controlled substances. It is highly addictive to both body and mind, causes many severe health problems, and is one of the leading factors in murder and suicide. Not to mention, 65% of all child abuse cases have been alcohol related. LSD, psilocybin, cannabis, and peyote are classified in the <?:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urnchemas-microsoft-comfficemarttags" /><st1:country-region><st1lace>United States</st1lace></st1:country-region> as Schedule 1 drugs, meaning they are illegal due to the extreme health risks even though there are none. (recent studies have shown such drugs are practically harmless). So why is it, that something as asininelike getting “loaded” on alcohol, is more accepted by society than using a substance like peyote on the means of redefining one’s spirituality like the Native Americans have done long before America's birth? I am somewhat surprised that there hasn’t been much of an issue about the hypocrisy and superficiality in our government’s substance abuse intervention. If our nation is so concerned over the well-being of the public, why do we see ads on TV, magazines and sporting events, suggesting a great pride in drinking, almost as if it were patriotic, as opposed to ad campaigns shown to make pot-smokers look as if they supported terrorism? Recentlybeer companies have produceda series of commercials for their new low-carb beers, where some adscould easily be mistaken as an ad for a sports drink. The government is ignoring the fact that alcoholism has destroyed and deranged the nuclear family, including mine, more than any other factor of an available substance.. They are ignoring the fact that nicotine has killed far more people than cocaine or heroin. They are more impressed with how much alcohol and tobacco companies have benefited the economy, obviously being more preoccupied with money than for the well-being of its people. Imagine a recovering cocaine addict constantly seeing ads for major cocaine distributors, the same goes for an alcoholic watching propaganda ads by Budweiser. Until you have suffered and experienced alcoholism first hand or through a family member (such as my father), you will truely never understand. Shrug your shoulders and live ignorantly in your little fairy-world if you wish.

The
reason the drinking age is 21 is that people who are a few years
younger will always have access to alcohol, so it's safe to say that it
would be very easy for 18-year-old college students to get as much
alcohol as they want. The people setting the drinking age don't want
anybody under 18 drinking, so they made the drinking age 21. When the
drinking age was 18, high school seniors could get alcohol, so people
as young as 14 had easy access to alcohol. It's a bit complicated, but
changing the drinking age from 18 to 21 has lowered the amount of
people drinking who are under 18 by a rather large amount.</font></span>
