SWIM has acquired 50g of Diplopterys cabrerana, and is planning on taking a certain amount of it (+ Syrian Rue) with one or two other people. SWIM chose this plant because, from what he has heard, it is often much stronger than Psychotria, but induces less nausea than Mimosa. There are very few reports of people using this plant in an ayahuasca brew, although it is supposedly common in Ecuador, so SWIM thought he'd gather all the information he could find and inquire about other people's experiences with it. SWIM has heard that the Diplopterys cabrerana sold online is often very weak, and although this seems unlikely to him, it is concerning.
So here is the majority of useful information that SWIM could find. SWIM would love to hear SWIY's experiences with or thoughts on this plant

Diplopterys is favored by shamans in Amazonian Ecuador and western Colombia, but is less often used in the Peruvian Amazon and Brazil where Chacruna (Psychotria viridis) is by far the preferred companion plant.
Diplopterys leaves are 5-10 times more potent than an equivalent amount of Psychotria so fewer leaves are used.

Alkaloid content
From erowid.org:
McKenna DJ, et al - Tarapoto "Chagro-panga" - 1984 -
1.7mg/g (+/- 0.41SD)
Agurell, et al - 1968 -
4.6mg/g
Der Marderosian - Eastern Ecuador - 1968 -
avg 14.6 (13.3-17.5mg/g)
Poisson - Peru - 1965 -
6.4mg/g
According to TiHKAL, Diplopterys cabrerana contains 1.3% DMT. That's 13mg/g.
In most reports SWIM has seen, Diplopterys cabrerana contains mostly N,N-DMT with trace amounts of 5-MeO-DMT, Bufotenine, NMT and other tryptamines, but SWIM has also seen accounts that say the content of alkaloids other than N,N-DMT is high. Could this be a reason why it is much less common than Psychotria viridis, which contains only N,N-DMT?
SWIM is having a hard time deciding not only his method of preparation but especially the dosage. Obviously it is wise to start low, since 10g of this could contain anywhere between 0 and 175mg of DMT, but (for example) a dose of 5g that produces no effects might not be a good indicator, especially since it could just be down to inefficient preparation. SWIM is more concerned with SWIY's thoughts on dosage, since he can read up on preparations in many other places.
