Does the most "out there" activity occur during the come up?
SWIM has found that the most prominent and "in your face" visuals and perceptive effects occur during the come-up, as well as body load which some could consider unpleasent, in a process akin to having your mind yanked up to a higher level.
Does anyone else find that those first few hours are the most intense, and the plateu of the trip is wonderful and novel, however comfortably familiar... Like feeling in a comfortable, empathogenic state high above that of mundane reality where a personal block seems removed and one is more receptive to the positive, serene emotions radiated by their fellow human and animal? Is this an exclusive characterstic of LSD or are all Psychedelics (especially Phenethylamine/Amphetamine based Psychedelics) known to have such empathogenic effects? Re: Does the most "out there" activity occur during the come up?
Well yes. The progression leading up to and during the "peak experience" has the greatest effects regards feelings of unreality and being on another plane of existence. As this land becomes familiar, one can be assured the peak is ebbing - at least with LSD-25.
Some of the DOx molecules are noted for ebbing and then returning again (and often again). The most famous of these being DOM (STP). Bongo fondly recalls this effect from DOI. And was glad he was aware of it's possibility - and had weighed the substance correctly. He could easily see the trouble (terror, even) had some dufus giving him 20mg of STP and, finally thinking his exhausted body was returning to some semblance of normality - nope! Up we go again! He'd have been loading his Owsley Elephant gun. |

Re: Does the most "out there" activity occur during the come up?
Monkey thinks that the come up can seem more intense sometimes because he feels like he is "straddling worlds", still guaging the effects of the drug by his normal experience. When he reaches peak he is fully established in the "other side" and feels more comfortable in his second home. Home is where the heart is... leading to more relaxed and full-hearted affect. Everything is kind of lost in translation in between, with more "holy shit!" type feelings

Re: Does the most "out there" activity occur during the come up?
SWID agrees. He wonders what most recreational users consider the most appealing part of the experience. The otherwordly come-up or the serene plateau.
Which is considered to be the most psychedelic (in it's literal sense) of the two? SWID would consider the come-up as the time in which he most objectively looks at himself and reality, and things can either go good or bad. He imagines that this is also more of the case on higher doses, when this come-up is even more jarring and intense. (On higher (400+ug) doses, which part of the trip would be the most intense - and the most noticeable in terms of comparing dosage? SWID imagines that whether low or high, the plateau one arrives at will - in the best cast - always be the same "at home" feeling, or would the effects of high-dose LSD during the plateau be remarkably different from a low dose or are the experiential effects between low and high doses only really relevant to the intensity of the come-up? |

Re: Does the most "out there" activity occur during the come up?
Monkey says he finds that most insight and such occurs once he has settled into the plateau. Before that things are usually to chaotic for much thought. Once established in the other side he usually encounters certain "lessons" from his subconscious or whatever. The come up is usually comprised of wide eyed confusion and laughter
![]() As far as dosage the same holds true for low and high doses but the nature is different of course. Lower dose lessons tend to be more grounded in normal reality "I need to be more healthy" and such. High dosage leans toward "there is nothing ever to fear in life because I am god taking a vacation from omnipotence/omniscience/omni-et cetera. Just enjoy this crazy subjective experience of being a monkey and don't ever worry about anything!" Great, but not as easily applicable and integrated into everyday experience ![]() h.a. |

Re: Does the most "out there" activity occur during the come up?
Heh heh. SWmost definitelyIM was thining the exact same thing on their last trip they told me. The come up seems to be when reality begins to get wonky and things can seem unstable yet quite funny. the beginnnings of distortions and the emotional changes are far more intense when compared to teh previous sober state. BUT teh palteau is were enlightenment seems to call.

Swim and his friends call this feeling while comming up 'behind your eyes' because they always feel like they are looking out of their eyes rather than being part of their eyes. 'another plane of existence'
