Novocaine, what dentist said and where to find
Last time my g.i. joe action figure was at the dentist he asked them what exactly novocaine was, they told g.i. joe that it was basically a mix of cocaine and adrenaline (how accurate this is, hmm.) anyway, if some little action figure wanted to acquire some novocaine, would the only way to get it be through theft? Online pharmacies? (knowing the risks already).

Re: Novocaine, what dentist said and where to find
Novocaine really does not get one high.It is as useless as lidocaine really for that purpose.Trying to get it would be a folly for that poor, high hungry,Gi Joe.

Re: Novocaine, what dentist said and where to find
novocaine is a trade name given to PROCAINE, a local anesthetic who's numbing action is somewhat similar to that of cocaine, hence the name novo ( new) "caine", suffix which was commonly given to this new class of anesthesics in the the early 20th century, due to structular similarities with COcaine. Also has the advantage of not having any psychoactivity. Procaine is also known as NOVAcaine or NOVOcaine. It also has a vasoconstrictor effect similar to that of cocaine.
just another aminoesther, UIPAC is 2-(diethylamino)ethyl 4-aminobenzoate. it's now been mostly replaced by lidocaine ( or xylocaine). no adrenaline, no psychoactivity, no cocaine. sad that swiyour dentist should be so badly informed on some of the tools of his trade. Actual cocaine is used in medecine to this day, in Bonain's solution for instance. b Last edited by Benga; 12-09-2007 at 23:45. Reason: spelling |

Uh this dentist must like to lie or has no clue what he is talking about. It's pretty common knowledge novocaine is just a numbing agent.

Re: Novocaine, what dentist said and where to find
one would think that if it did have a euphoric effect one would notice it when it was injected into ones mouth at the dentist, heh, Logic usually prevails in these situations.

Re: Novocaine, what dentist said and where to find
Could you imagine if it WERE so? The dentist would have people lined up around the block...
"Yo doc, I want this tooth out." "But there is nothing wrong with it." "Listen doc, I just want it out OK, and rather enjoy leaving here with your footprint on my forehead. So c'mon, hook a dude up, yo."

-as a local sedative for eye and throat operations, but when I read this it was back in the 90's so medicine may have evolved beyond this for all I know. -in Brompton's cocktail, which also includes heroin, alcohol and sometimes thorazine. This is give to terminal patients. |
